Celebrity Feet: J. Cole Air Jordan III Black/Cement

J. Cole is another familiar name and face on the Sneaker News Celebrity Feet, but even he’ll tell you that his sneaker knowledge isn’t up to par with guys like Wale, who we all know was and is an intense sneakerfiend. One of J. Cole’s favorites is the Black/Cement Air Jordan III, a shoe which we spotted on his feet two other times this year. However, this latest sighting should be noted as ‘Celebrity Foot’, as he only wore on Jordan shoe on his right foot – the left was occupied by a cast/brace to protect from injury. More of J. Cole and the Air Jordan III below, so take a look and let us know what you think.

Air Jordan V Eddie Jones Grizzlies Away PE

Eddie Jones (and his mustache) was one of the first members of Jordan Brand, as he and Michael Finley were featured in an advertisement for the Air Jordan XVI. His addition to the Jordan Brand roster came when the Temple alumni was heating up his NBA career while gaining some league-wide popularity (anyone remember his Taco Bell commercial with Shaq, who suffered from ‘Taco Neck’), and since then, he’s been proudly represented the brand with Jordan Brand footwear and Air Jordan PEs. Here’s a look at an ‘Away’ PE colorway of the Air Jordan V that Eddie Jones wore during his Memphis Grizzlies days; the colorway is similar to the Black/University Blue Retro that dropped during Jones’ tenure as a Grizzly. Jones has had a successful career, but it’s unfortunate that he wasn’t a part of four potential NBA Championships; he was traded away by the Lakers to make room for Kobe in the starting line-up, and left Miami before they won in 2006. At least he’s got some sick kicks! via TheClosetCollector.

Air Jordan III Oregon White

Nike’s connection with the University of Oregon goes back years before Nike was even created, as a number of Nike’s founders and prominent figures have academic roots at the school. Roughly three weeks ago Sneaker News showed you an Air Jordan III ‘Oregon’ PE, which featured Oregon markings in place of the Jumpman logos. Here we have a look at a White ‘Home’ colorway, which features a White/Black-Cement Grey upper with a dark Oregon green on the outsole and the ‘O’ logo on the tongue. These particular specialties are in the possession of Dennis Dixon, former Oregon Ducks QB and current Pittsburgh Steelers back-up. Do you prefer these over the Black/Yellow colorway? Check out the extra shot below and let us know what you think.

Nike Zoom Hyperdunk 2011 Lithuania PE

Pretty much nobody looked good against the unprecedented collection of elite basketball talent we’ve come to know as the Dream Team, but there was indeed one international squad who stood out amongst the pretenders.  The Lithuanian national basketball team captured an unexpected bronze medal at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, and just as much attention was given to their Grateful Dead-inspired tie-dye garb.  Ballers including Arvydas Sabonis wore adidas back in those days, but over the past few years, the yellow, green and red has been outfitted by Nike Basketball to the tune of some eye-catching designs like the one pictured above.  The Nike Zoom Hyperdunk 2011‘Lithuania’ doesn’t have the speckling that abounded on their Air Max Hyperize from a couple years ago, but its high-contrast colorway is still among the most easily identifyable in all of sport.  Click through to see some additional angles and look for these at Foot Locker’s House of Hoops specialty locations.

Afew Vintage Gallery Event

Sneaker showcases like the Afew Vintage Gallery don’t come around very often. If you’ve been to a major sneaker event like Sneaker Con, chances are you’ve been impressed with massive Air Jordan and Nike SB Dunk collections, but a mass gathering of vintage originals is a rare treat that is likely a near-extinct event here in the U.S., where the sneaker game is dictated by new releases and re-issued classics. As you may be well aware of by the now, the footwear scene overseas is not what you might be used to; it’s heavy on classic runners from the early-1980′s to mid-1990′s from a wide array of brands like Nike, Asics, Reebok, adidas, and a few more that some of you may never have heard of.

This past weekend, the Afew Vintage Gallery showcased some of the greatest running sneakers from that era – one that some may argue is the greatest of all-time. Lining the walls are original running models that may either look familiar to you or look too plain – it’s likely you overlooked them back then when a handful of brands were pumping out some real quality goods. We’ll just throw a few names out there: Nike Air Skylon 2, Asics Gel 120, Nike Air Tech Challenge Huarache. Ring a bell? The Afew Vintage Gallery is about as close shoe porn there is, so sit back, dim the lights, and enjoy viewing some of the sickest sneakers to have ever graced the planet. Thanks to EuKicks for the pictures.

atmos x adidas Originals ZX 8000 G SNK

For Jordanheads, Nike SB fiends, Vans fanatics and other brand loyalists, you might glance at this latest drop from adidas Originals and feel like you’ve just seen these.  But that just means you’re a regular Sneaker News reader who saw our profile of the MEGA Torsion RV whose colorway was inspired by one of the OG ZX 8000 colorways.  And now less than six months later, there’s a new release that’s even closer to the original, but still offers a twist of its own.  The adidas for atmos ZX 8000 G-SNK takes the late ’80s ‘Aqua’ look and applies a scaley texture to the overlay sections.  And as detail-oriented readers will already know from the ‘G-SNK’ designator, this was done to keep with the ongoing collaboration’s use of glow-in-the-dark snakeskin.  Check out more images after the jump and get your passport in order because these will hit atmos in late October.

EA Sports x Nike Trainer 1.3 Max Madden 12 Hall Of Fame PE

To help the EA Sports Madden developers celebrate the Madden ’12 Hall Of Fame Edition game, Nike created this limited edition Nike Trainer 1.3 Max, presented to members of the EA Sports team. Matching the bronzed Marshall Faulk on the cover of the game, this Trainer 1.3 Max features a metallic bronze/copper upper with a tonal mesh toe and center panel with a black swoosh and lining. Nike Football‘s partnership with EA Sports has resulted in some great releases like the recent Nike Trainer 1.3 ‘Letterman’, but unfortunately, these bronzed Trainers won’t release (for now). Check out a close-up of the PE below and let us know what you think.

Missoni x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star | Release Info

Re-selling isn’t something that only effects sneakers; one of the most notable examples of luxury goods scalping happening just weeks ago with the near-instant sellout of the Missoni for Target capsule.  The idea was to bring the Italian label’s high-end look to the masses at a fraction of the typical cost, but how it actually played out was quite different.  Will the latest run of Missoni x Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars be treated to the same aftermarket quadrupling in price?  These two new Missoni Chucks will be available at First String retailers like Hanon starting this Saturday, October 1st, and you can see more details after the jump.

Raekwon x DJ Mars x New Balance History of Mixtapes

“We took pride in the sneaker game because we grew up under the OGs that . . . put us on to what was fresh.”

Few things can match New Balance’s identity of pure ‘classic’ style, but this latest odd coupling makes total sense when you hear the first bars of Criminology and find yourself instantly transported back in time to 1995. Wu-Tang Clan OG Raekwon the Chef did some of his very best work on the ‘Purple Tape’ that guest starred self-proclaimed ‘Wally King’ Ghostface Killah, and two years after Cuban Linx Pt. 2, he’s linking up with New Balance and DJ Mars on a retrospective on the last two decades plus of sneakers and streetwear as part of Mars’ ‘History of Mixtapes’ project. NB is one of those brands that has endured Raekwon’s entire reign and you can see his thoughts on their timeless runners by clicking on the jump below to watch the full video.
