Look up “bat speed” in a baseball dictionary, and you’ll likely see Gary Sheffield’s name listed; while in the minors, Sheff was actually advised by his coaches to slow down his bat because he would hit 400-ft. foul balls into the bleachers. Since he’s made that adjustment, Sheffield has bounced around to a number of teams, bringing with him his lightning-quick swing and menacing batting stance. Good for around 35 bombs a game while batting above .300, Sheffield finally reached the 500 home-run milestone during his last season as a pro. It came during his tenure with the Mets, during which Sheffield rocked this sick PE of the Air Jordan IX in the classic Metropolitan White/Black/Blue/Orange colorway. It features a white patent leather mudguard with white constrast stitching on the black upper, orange and blue accents, and his ’10’ stitched at the heel. These rare PEs are brought to us by Air Jordan PE extraordinaire Phase2, so take a look below and let us know what you think.
