Sometimes it helps for an Air Jordan to adopt a catchy nickname. Some approve, others don’t (i.e. the ‘Raptors’ being a prime example of controversial naming since the OG released before the Raptors were born), but ‘Candy Cane’ is a fairly accurate assessment since the White/Red midsole does remind us of the classic striped holiday candy. Here we have yet another look at the upcoming 2012 release of the Air Jordan XIV in the ‘Home’ Bulls colorway of White/Red/Black; these were last seen in stores back in 2006, so do some of you still have your ’06 Retro (or even the OG) in your closet? Let us know after you check out these new images. via soleland.
Yeah just like the moron I talked to at the mall yesterday trying to explain to me: why the white and red 12 are called Cherry 12?They are not the **cking cherry 12, It has nothing to do with the history of the shoe or its colorway!...Now we are going to nickname everyone other white & red colorway cherry or candycane?......These are white & red 14s!...The white & red 12 are the Japan 12: why, well whats the first thing that comes to mind when I say Japan when you look at those shoes?hmmmm....ahhh the Japanese flag!.....To the idiot who came out with the name cherry: last time I checked: cherry looked pink on all Jordans...The same moron trying to explain to me: that ohh those aren't retro Chicago 10 2012 aren't Chicago 10s because the Originals were only released for Chicago and the Jumpman on the back isn't black or they changed the sockliner.....LMFAO....
Stop it b! Just stop ! I hate that this generation has to have a damn nickname for every fucking shoe! White/red xiv is good enough. Don't ruin a classic shoe by giving such a stupid name. Look at the blk/red/purple vii. That raptor nickname is dumb. Bred on all blk/red colorways is dumb ass well. What's next all black xvii called blackouts?! All white low xi bring called the tampons. Smh
WTF! Last time I checked, a fucking candy cane didn't have BLACK on it ... at least the traditional white/red kind. Who the fuck comes up with these silly, child-like nicknames? This is just getting ridiculous now and I can only imagine every frickin major shoe, retro or not, that comes out in the future will get a silly ass nickname. Every child/teen is trying to name a shoe like it's a naming rights competition. Candy is right and you know who the target audience for 'candy' is. #KIDSHIT
Sneaker Blogs ... I blame you for propelling this nick-naming nonsense.
right on Sub.0....yeah I try to explain to this clown at the mall, why they are not Cherry 12?I challenged him as to why I called them Japan 12 instead of cherry 12?
1. When I say Japan 12 for that shoe, what is the first thing that comes to mind: ahhhh the Japanese flag.
2. I say it like this: if don't fit the history of the shoe.
3. Most Jordan shoes that are cherry, looks pink.
cherry 12 is a wack name for that shoe!It says varsity red....so are the Black and red 12 aka flu games, cherrys as well? The white and red 12 are the Japan 12. Fits the history and colorway perfectly and since the designer was trying to match the Bulls colorway with the Japanese flag, fitting that they are the Japan 12!
