Although Nike Free didn’t officially debut until 2004, foot-form running technology has been the focus of the Nike APE (Advanced Products Engineering) team for decades. In fact, the concept that would later become Nike Free was born in the mid-90′s, around the time of the debut of the Nike Footscape. Another 90′s-born technology is the Nike Huarache line; it cut out the excess fat and created a lightweight package of running, basketball, and training footwear never seen before. This November 2011, Nike will combine the two iconoclastic design approaches by introducing the Nike Huarache Free 2012 Basketball & Running capsule, which combines the widely-celebrated upper designs with a sport-specific Nike Free-grooved outsole. For the Nike Huarache Free 2012 Basketball, expect two ‘OG’ renditions in the White/Royal/Purple and Black/Aqua/Royal; for its Running counterpart, await the White/Gold/Teal. All three will hit Nike retailers this November 2011, so continue reading for some additional angles and let us know what you think.

October 31st, 2011 at 2:37 pm
Love the look, but will the new sole have any Air? Or will it be just like the free and no cushioning?
October 31st, 2011 at 2:59 pm
any word on what kind of cushioning is gonna be used here? If these end up with zoom in them, they could be my dream basketball shoe come true.

October 31st, 2011 at 3:12 pm

I'm getting all 3 and will ball in the black pair.

I had the OGs (white) back in the early 90s … they were probably the best bball shoes i ever played in, next to the Air Flight One. I'm with you cats up top; this is one instance where NIKE updated a retro and didn't ruin the whole shoe. This one works bc it doesn't change the classic appearance drastically

November 6th, 2011 at 8:27 pm
I NEED ALL 3! What's up with them nigga's over in Portland? They couldn't hold out until the Spring?
November 6th, 2011 at 9:19 pm
I heard they might get cancelled by 21 mercer when I was there on Friday night to cop the jordan DB 4s, I hope that rumor isn't true cuz I've seen a sample in person, and they are so sick it's insane. Im more stoked on these than some black cement 3s that are made with crappy materials and have some shiny ass leather. Im good on my 99's even tho the cement print hasn't been the same since the 1993 OG's. Plus, id rather have something that not everyone has and wears all the time like them 3s. I love them, but my CDPs and 99's are enough for me. Double cop for me.

How'd you go from Huarache Frees to DB 4s to Retro 3s?
And 21 Mercer is just a store – the employees there have zero input on release dates. November release for the Huarache Free is directly from Nike.
November 6th, 2011 at 9:35 pm
What are you talking about dude? I swear, 75% of the people just come on here and try bashing people instead of giving their opinion on the shoes and whether they want them or not. All I said was that I heard that from the manager when I was at the store to grab my DB 4s, and I saw a sample, but they said they were gonna get cancelled. Didn't say anything else about them just saying when I heard it you fool. And I know it's just one employee at a store, which is why I said I hope it's not true. But Mercer is prolly the biggest and best NSW store in the nation, so I find them to be pretty credible sometimes. I commented about how I saw the samples and how they looked dope as hell, take your bullshit somewhere else man.
November 6th, 2011 at 9:38 pm
Oh yeah and 21 mercer is a Nike store you idiot. "directly from Nike" haha. 21 mercer is the most well know Nike sportswear store there is. Lol. Like I said- just another dumb ass tryin to bash someone else's comment cuz they have nothing better to do-why don't you learn some shit before talking it.

So whats the outcome on release date? Cancelled or dropping?
