NBA Lockout Feet: OKC All Star Charity Game

Every time these All-Star exhibitions go down, the reality of the NBA lock-out stings just a bit more. The latest NBA un-season game went down in Oklahoma City, where sneaker fans got another feast of basketball kicks both new and old, like KD’s Zoom KD IV ‘Nerf’, the Nike LeBron 9 ‘Ohio State’ (worn by LeBron, of course), Carmelo’s Blackout Melo M8 (rather explosive, isn’t it?), Chris Paul’s CP3.V, and a surprising sightning in the Nike Zoom LeBron IV, worn by the former adidas athlete Michael Beasley (dropped 56 points). Other notables included Russell Westbrook’s Zoom Hyperfuse 2011, James Harden’s Hyperfuse Low, and Jonny Flynn’s Zoom Hyperdunk 2011. During half-time of this game, Kevin Durant presented a charitable donation of $100,000 to the Single Parents Support Network of Oklahoma City, further demonstrating the stars’ mission of giving back to the community. Liberty of London x Nike Air Approach Mid 2.4

British fabricmakers Liberty of London have worked with Nike Sportswear on several collaborative capsules over the past few years, but this latest teamup marks the first time they got their hands on something this rugged.  The Nike Air Approach Mid 2.4 brings together styling cues from the Lava Dome and Air Magma with two of Liberty’s signature floral prints for a look that should be able to handle the toughest conditions, but would do equally well as a cutesy punctuation to a variety of looks, really any time of the year.  Check them out after the jump, let us know how these compare to the other Liberty x Nike Sportswear designs we’ve seen recently and stick with Sneaker News for the US release date.  via SF

Nike Zoom Rookie LWP Glow In the Dark Arriving at Retailers

Classic white and black or something a little fancier?  You’ll have your pick among Nike Zoom Rookie LWP colorways soon, with two different versions of this three-way hybrid model offering yin-yang-like palettes.  But perhaps never before in the sneaker world has there been such a radical difference between two otherwise identical shoes, this ‘Glow in the Dark’ edition earning its nickname when the lights go down and they illuminate your feet with a green radiance that still looks futuristic no matter how many times you see it.  They’re arriving at Nike Sportswear dealers like Millennium Sports this Thursday, October 27th but you can already get the GITD Zoom Rookie LWP on eBay right now.

Nike Zoom Kobe VII Black Grey White

Perhaps it’s Kobe Bryant’s expectation of a deep playoff run and Olympic Games taking up so much time in 2012 that he’s just toying with the idea of playing overseas to get some media attention, instead of actually playing in games like many of his NBA co-workers.  But there might not even be an NBA Playoff slate next spring the way things are going, so this Nike Zoom Kobe VII seems appropriate with its fairly generic take on the ‘away’ look.  It’s a tame colorway to be sure, but the Zoom Kobe 7′s unique ribbed upper gives this basic trio a real boost and suggests they could steal attention away from pretty much any team’s road uniforms, no matter how colorful.  Take a closer look after the jump and let us know how the ‘regular’ ZKVII stacks up against the bootie-equipped Zoom Kobe VII Supreme.  via HC

Nike Zoom KD IV Nerf

Not all of us are 6’10″ and can hit the three with ease, so for many sneakerheads, the closest we’ve been to jaw-dropping acts of athleticism on the basketball court is with a pesky metal bracket securing a corrugated backboard and a rim that practically snaps itself.  The Nike Zoom KD IV is a nice triangulation of these influences for KD collectors, an insanely-colored splatter-printed colorway that comes in a special package complete with foam Nerf basketball and hoop.  You probably don’t need the Zoom KD IV’s Adaptive Fit system and Hyperfuse construction to nail a few dunks on the door-hung Hasbro hoop, but that does nothing to discredit this as one of the year’s more interesting Nike Basketball special packaging add-ins.  Kevin Durant already has his and was spotted wearing them in OKC Sunday night, so check them out with additional images awaiting your click on the jump below, and be sure to stick with Sneaker News for the Zoom KD IV ‘Nerf’ release date, currently slated for November.

Nike Zoom Huarache 2K4 Upcoming Colorways

A bit like that curiously timed Hyperdunk 2010 ‘Country Pack’ whose release comes while its sequel is firmly in the middle of its product cycle, a retro run for the Nike Zoom Huarache 2K4 makes one wonder when is ‘too soon’ for a classic re-release. The Huarache 2K4s, though, do indeed stand out among the young century’s best, even nearly eight years of innovation after its debut. The kind of reverence serious ballers have for its supportive yet explosive design made the 2K4s a quick seller on NIKEiD early this year and all but ensures a quick depletion of the stock for these two new colorways when they arrive at retailers next year. Click through for more images and stick with Sneaker News for all of the Zoom Huarache 2K4 release dates. via Kumastock

Nike Air Max+ 2011 New Releases @ Nike Harajuku

We’ve reached the point in its product cycle that you’d typically expect to see casually-oriented leather-uppered releases, but because we already got the first LTR Nike Air Max 2011+ in addition to the highly technical nature of its build, new performance colorways are still hitting retailers.  Two new colorways each have hit Nike Harajuku for mens and womens sizes, each gender’s offerings split evenly between tonal and higher contrast two-toned colorups.  Click through on the jump below so you can see each of the four pairs in greater detail and stick with Sneaker News for word on their US availability.

Nike ACG Lunar MacLeay Ironstone Olive

When the Nike ACG weather hits in your area, one of the only downsides to bringing out the winterized gear is the overall weight of these beefed up offerings. The Nike ACG Lunar MacLeay seeks to alleviate that, coming with a super lightweight LunarLon sole in one of the more sensible strokes of hybridization we’ve seen from the team in Beaverton. This colorway utilizes a typical ACG approach, with the uppers done up in muted colors and materials that get an exclamation mark thanks to the florescent yellow on the laces and the lining. Check out the full pics of the Ironstone/Olive colorway after the jump, which is available now at European retailers like Shelta. A stateside release shouldn’t be far behind, so stick with Sneaker News for info on that.

Nike Air Flight Showup

After the LeBron, Kobe, KD, Hyperdunk, and Hyperfuse, can you name any other Nike Basketball model? Not much attention is given to the lower-end designs, but back in the 90′s, the entire yearly catalog of Bball kicks, regardless of pricepoint, was popular front to end. Take a look back (or flip through the last few pages of Sole Provider, if you’ve got a copy) and you’ll see that there were countless different models per year. Models like this new Nike Air Flight Showup doesn’t rely on its flash, big-name association, or funky design, but on its low pricepoint – a fine alternative for those who feel $170, or even $135 is way too high for a pair if kicks. Check out the images of the Air Flight Showup below and expect these in stores soon, because they just hit Europe’s Afew.

Nike Flyclave Mid LTR

Not too terribly long after Nike Sportswear introduced the Air Royal Mid in early 2009, its success was established clearly enough to allow for another ’80s basketball-leaning lifestyle sneaker. The Air Flytop came with a removable ankle strap as one of its key features atop a sole very similar to the Royal, but now that the Royal has firmly taken over this niche within the NSW catalog, both have been removed. What we’re left with is the new Nike Flyclave Mid LTR, a lower profile take on the Flytop whose vulcanized sole is among the thinnest we’ve seen. Check out the first black, white and maize colorway in more images after the jump and look for these at NSW spots like Mr. R Sports.

adidas Misterfly

If the NBA season ever does start up, we should see a healthy helping of adidas basketball sneakers out there on the hardwood. We’ll no doubt see Derrick Rose in the adiZero Rose 2 and Superman himself in the adiPower Howard, but adidas is taking their basketball line a stop beyond those signature models with the adidas Misterfly. Built for quick players, this sneaker has a collar cage for ankle support which compliments the torsion cushioning in the soles. Get a better look at this Grizzlies colorway of the brand new adidas Misterfly after the jump and grab them from your local adidas spot now. via Sole Movement
