When we associate a superstar player with one team, seeing said star wear another jersey is a rather tough pill to swallow. Griffey in a White Sox uni, Patrick Ewing in a Sonics/Magic jersey, heck, even MJ in Wizards Blue/Gold was a bit funky. Ken Griffey Jr. will always be tied to White/Teal Mariners colors, and although he poetically ended his career by returning to Seattle, we can’t overlook his years as a Cincinnati Red and his short span with the Southside White Sox. Just yesterday, Sneaker News gave you notice about the Cincinnati Reds Air Max JR releasing in November, but it looks like some retailers, like MrRSports, will drop them early tomorrow, alongside the ‘White Sox’ edition (which will drop on Nikestore). Still not sure which one you like better? Check out the detailed shots below and let us know your pick, and be sure to snag one of the two (or both) tomorrow at Nike Sportswear retailers or on eBay.

Nike LeBron 9 designer Jason Petrie recently confirmed this Cool Grey/Cherry colorway of the LeBron 9 to be this year’s high-energy ‘Miami Nights’ installment. These are clearly a lot more subtle than the LeBron 8 V/2 Low ‘Miami Nights’, but convey the same message; Miami Nights are about parties. The Dark Grey/Black combo is a clear signature of night-time, which the Cherry and Purple point to the dazzling night-club colors (all you need is a bottle of your favorite spirits to get the night started). The ‘Miami Nights’ is currently set for a release on November 4th, but some LeBron accounts like Millenium Shoes has their stock in early, so check out these new shots of this upcoming release below and let us know if you like this subtler ‘Miami Nights’ over the previous version.

Nike iD allows sneakerheads to implement their favorite colorways onto their favorite sneakers. The Bespoke experience at 21 Mercer, with its wider array of colors and eclectic variety of materials, allows sneakerheads to go a lot further with their inspirations. Matthew Lauretti, a 21-year-old who recently relocated to New York from Italy, used his regional transition as the muse for his creation, utilizing NY-specific colorways, like the Blue/Orange combination, with traveler lizard leather in a rich blue coast blue. On the lace-dubrae is ‘New York’ engraved in a luxurious font, with the heel-tab providing an additional message with ‘New Life’. Check out the extra angles of Lauretti’s Bespoke and let us know what you think of this inspired design.

Much of the Asics retro catalog has been out of the reach of American sneaker heads for a while now. Historically commanding much more attention across the pond, their line of Gel’s and the like will thankfully see an increased presence in the US come 2012. Of course that means we’ll be seeing plenty of the classic split-tongue Asics Gel Lyte III. We’ve got a quick preview of two pairs set for the Spring/Summer 2012 season that go hand in hand, coming in alternating black and white colorways. Along with the leather uppers are some nice canvas sections, a material that you don’t see too often on the Gel Lyte III. Get the full look at both pairs after the jump and stick with us for release info on these come next year. via Suede&Mesh

The eighth completed Bespoke project from the Bespoke pop-up at Nike Harajuku surfaces today, designed by R.K. of Japan. As we’ve witnessed from previous Nike Harajuku Bespoke creations, this latest edition utilizes funky materials and opts for the high-contrast theme, as R.K. combines a rich, smooth olive-green suede with a funky two-toned beige pattern on the toe-box and center panel. Add in glossy croc-skin on the tongue label and heel-tab and you’ve got another Nike Air Force 1 Bespoke that is so very ‘Harajuku’. More angles of this Bespoke below, so take a look and let us know what you think.

Lately Sneaker News has been showing you some interesting Air Jordan gems from the collection of Phase2 who, based on his stash, might have the best collection of AJ samples on Earth. Here we have a look at a ‘True Blue’ variation of the Air Jordan 1 Max Orange that dropped in 2009; it features a the trademark True Blue color on the inner lining as well as on the laces for a funky clash of colors. Sneaker News also showed you an ‘Infrared’ sample of the Air Jordan 1 Max Orange, and Phase2 quickly points out the ‘Infrared’ color of the Jumpman on the tongue label (the lighting may throw you off), which adds up to one of the rarest Air Jordan samples in recent memory – three different variations of one release in one shoe. We’ve got additional angles of this rare Air Jordan 1 sample so take a look and let us know what you think!

The Carmelo Anthony NYC take-over culminated in the NYC Flight Event that was held last night at Pier 54. The red carpet was rolled out for Carmelo Anthony, who arrived wearing a black leather motorcycle jacket and some matching shades. Queens native and hip-hop legend Nas provided some live tunes for the event, which was also co-hosted by Angie Martinez of HOT 97 and DC Enuff. Carmelo was also joined by another surprise guest – Chris Paul of the New Orleans Hornets; The two Jordan Brand athletes spent time with the eventgoers, who were excited to meet and greet the latest superstar in the New York Knicks’ storied history. At the event was a display of Carmelo’s Jordan sneaker history, an arcade-style basketball game, and video of Carmelo Anthony projected onto the water! Check out a quick recap of the night’s events as well as a video recap and if you missed out on the event, you can still capture some of the Melo magic by visiting the Flight Lab 159 installation!

adidas Consortium is wiping the slate clean and opting for a fresh start in late 2011. Will the collection return to its namesake form and collaborate extensively with the hottest names from fashion and art, or will Three Stripes keep their in-house brain trust occupied with pumping out new creations? If the latter proves to be true, we’re all in for a treat because the adidas Consortium ‘Tabula Rasa’ five-pack comes with no ‘x’es or extra names, but they are indeed among the season’s standout releases. The adidas Originals Decade, Baltic, Matchplay and Pro Shell are immaculate in white suede with leather trim, both of which show off their apparent quality in a series of closeup images awaiting your click on the jump below. Let us know which model you like best and stick with Sneaker News for the US release dates.

Sneakerheads the world over know the Nike Air Max 95 for its signature ‘grey-dient’ colorblocking scheme in which white eyelets make their way to a black sole via several tiers of tonal grey. But we also know that other colors can be applied tonally to the AM95′s ‘muscle fibers’, Stash’s collaborative design from 2006 being one prime example. So now as everything outside starts to get a little darker and all the vegetation feels the call of Chronos, it’s a great time to see this tonal brown Air Max 95 hitting select retailers. Nicknamed ‘Shades of Brown’, this new pair doesn’t have the same kind of obvious gradient as the aforementioned designs, but few would argue with the selection of brown suedes at play here, and you’ll be able to find these now at select NSW retailers like SoleFly.

Between his duets with Chris Brown and Kanye West, Detroit MC Big Sean has managed to garner some serious mainstream success in 2011. His track ‘I Do It’ was also a key component of adidas mid-summer marketing push, commercials with NBA MVP Derrick Rose popping up everywhere you cared to look in May and June. With all that notoriety, it’s about time Sean got up with Three Stripes for a collaborative release of his own, and it looks like it’ll be coming on the silhouette made famous by a trio of New York-based hip-hoppers about a quarter-century ago. The Big Sean x adidas Originals Superstar is in step with today’s trends thanks to black accents on an otherwise leopard-printed lowtop silhouette; woudl you buy these if they make it to retail? Check them out in more detail after the jump and stick with Sneaker News for updates on the Big Sean x adidas Originals teamup. via SF
