Play around with Air Jordan colorways and materials and you’re likely to come to a collision between Carbon Fiber and Elephant Print. The upcoming November 2011 releases of Jordan CMFT Viz Air 11 embraces that crossroads with its new releases, using faux carbon fiber with a glossy finish on the mudguard with alternate colors of elephant print on the heel in three different colorways. Jordan Brand retailer Corporate has the Varsity Red, Black, and Varsity Royal colorways available now, so the question is: which of the three do you like best? Streetball legend John Strickland has left a profound and lasting impression on those that surrounded him, as even Jay-Z himself used one of Strick’s coined terms in of his of songs. Strickland was one of those individuals who ‘walked’ the ‘talk’, and Nike Sportswear decided to honor the fallen hero with a pair of Nike Air Force 1 Lows in a classic White/Gum colorway. This ‘Classic for Classic’ approach was well received by sneakerheads and Air Force 1 connoisseurs in particular, and the ‘Finish Your Breakfast’ message on the tongue label was the perfect way to send his message to the younger generation; WEST in New York City has these available right now so head there quickly as supplies are limited, but if you miss out, grab a pair on eBay.
UPDATE: We have been informed by WEST that these will release one week from tomorrow (10/29).

Recent drops suggested Supra was moving toward celebrating their riders with new release packs instead of the color themes that dominated the summer months, but here’s a new trio from the crown brand that suggests either option is just a release announcement away. The Supra Reed Pack doesn’t seem to be a shoutout to the woodwind family of instruments, but then again, it doesn’t really resemble papyrus or any other reed, for that matter. But just as was the case with the recent ‘Stealth Pack’, this thematic vagueness doesn’t detract from the rich burgundy satin TUF design applied to the Supra Skytop and Thunders in both Low and High. Look at them more closely after the jump and look for them at your local Supra dealer.

Should skateboarding historians count Christian Hosoi among the skaters whose footwear preferences were strongly influenced by Air Jordans? If you were to look over Hosoi’s collaborations with Vans on the Legends Pack, you’d see him rely on black and red and/or black and royal blue colorways, both of which were prominently featured on the original Air Jordan 1 he’s depicted wearing in countless classic photos. All of this MJ-infusion in the past is what makes Hosoi’s Vans SK8-His so unique despite their simple designs. Navy/white and tonal black getups seem far enough out of the Christ Air originator’s expected range that they’re a nice surprise for the holiday season, and you’ll find them soon at select Off the Wall retailers. via FNG

Nike has given increased attention to indoor soccer shoes over the past year or so, starting with the Lunar Gato that offered its take on Cristiano Ronaldo’s completely Safari’d Mercurial Vapor Superfly II. From the Lunar Gato emerged the Street Gato, a decidedly more aggressive pyrimidal traction surface on the medial toe and instep among the more unique design elements we’ve seen on any shoe in 2011. The name of this shoe is still the Nike5 Street Gato, but now there’s a CR7 attached to the end as we come full circle for a Ronaldo-inspired edition in Light Bone leather that references his Real Madrid jersey number. The addition of a vibrant red sockliner underlines the Street Gato’s capacity for both performance and street-level casual style; look at them in more detail by clicking on the jump below. via SF

ESPN’s Top 100 ranking of NBA players has been the hottest topic in NBA news (with the exception of the lock-out). Food for thought – one team has #1 and #3, while another has #5 with his best teammate coming in at #37. Who wins in a series? The NBA is a league of superstars, but NBA champions are determined by teams, and while LeBron James and Dwyane Wade were placed #1 and #3 overall (respectively), Dirk Nowitzki, who led the Mavericks to a championship in just six games, was ranked at #5. The controversy surrounding ESPN’s rankings should keep NBA fans busy for some time, but the players themselves have kept busy with work-outs and scrimmages (as well as making plans for the 6-game world tour); #1 (LeBron) and #6 (KD) were recently spotted in Akron shooting some hoops, with LeBron wearing the Air Max LeBron VII ‘Kentucky’ PE and KD wearing the Zoom KD IV (releasing in December). They were also spotted pool-side, with LeBron wearing a pair of low-cut, mid-foot strapped Nike Trainers. Check out the images of the NBA stars below and stick with Sneaker News for more NBA Lockout Feet! via terezowens.
