The eighth installment of Nike’s partnership with the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital was unveiled in early October; six children were selected to design six different Nike footwear models – one of which was the Air Jordan IV Retro. Chosen for this marquee project was 11-year-old Isaiah Scott, who transferred his ‘Superman’ persona onto the design of the Air Jordan IV. This video goes in detail behind Isaiah’s design, which is also inspired by Nate Robinson’s insane dunk over Dwight Howard during the 2009 NBA Dunk Contest. Superman represents the sick child because all sick children are heroic, the arrows represent the ups and downs that occur with their illness, the green represents superman's kryptonite (his weaknesses and in this case, little isaiah's lukemia that he is battling), the lime green laces are there because its his favorite color, and the "seven" under the shoe is his favorite number (and 7 is also the number for luck). This shoe is a piece of unique art and not to mention that all the proceeds go straight to the Doernbecher Children's Hospital. Great shoes, very unique, one of a kind, and a chance to support to a great cause. ANYBODY WHO HATES ON THIS SHOE IS A IGNORANT, MISRABLE FUCK OR JUST MAD BECAUSE YOURE TOO POOR TO AFFORD A PAIR!!! I truly feel for him and him's mother and wish them nothing but prolonged success with Isiah's illness. He seem like a really great kid.. Glad to see a black boy get the chance to embark on the opportunity Nike has given to several other ill children. Not a actual fan of the color of the IV 4's but it would be for a great cause.

It doesn't say anywhere that he thinks Nate Robinson's persona is Superman. It says HIS persona is superman, and that the shoe is ALSO inspired by Nate Robinson's dunk, which explains why there's a Superman logo and the Kryptonate lime green color...think people.

Another thing that I find kinda fucked up is that these go for like what $180 retail I'm guessing? why are they going for $350 when the point is to make money for charity not for resellers

After seeing the lil bit of background...I'm more supportive of the whole thing, design and all. Like originally..sneakerheads was prolly like "WTF is this!!??" But after seeing the less fortunate fella [tho they don't say what he suffered from unless i missed it] and hearing a bit of his story, the unorthodox design and sly campaign by Nike makes it worth it. I kinda wonder if they delayed the release just to get this clip to us...??
