Nike Vapor Flash Jacket

Reflective became a must-have detail on running jackets and shoes – not for aesthetics, but for protection! The night-time runners find reflective material a godsend because it keeps them visible to traffic, and helps maintain a safe environment. Then comes Nike’s all new Vapor Flash Jacket, taking reflective usage to the next level; the entire jacket is made of the reflective material, shining brightly at any hit of light, allowing the runner to be visible at 360 degrees. The jacket itself is constructed of polyester twill with 400-candlepower reflectivity, and glass spheres are embedded into the fabric, serving the purpose reflecting incoming light onto the upcoming running path. Too much 3M? The jacket is reversible, with a toned-down matte grey with just select hints of the flashy material detailing the inner side. Now the question is, would you throw down $350 for this jacket? Head to Nikestore if you can’t say no, and check out the video detailing the Vapor Flash Jacket in action below!

the vapor flash jacket has NOTHING to do with 3M or the 3M company…this is a brand new technology created & owned by nike…PLEASE sneakernews go get some background info before posting false information!!!

  4. Boss Dogg Says:

  5. Sneaker News Says:

Where do we make reference this jacket is made with 3M? the article just makes reference to 3M. Stop acting up or stay off the site.

  14. Izl Says:

Omg – stfu markus- you clearly don't realize what your saying- why s it that everyone else knows that the reflective material is known as 3m – yes it's not made by the company called 3m- I didn't read it like how your implying what you thought sneakerews wrote, your a fool and the world would be better if people like you drowned in your own saliva.

  15. IMO Says:

"Too much 3M? " lol sry SN,but had to do it.

  16. aintnojoke1 Says:

They have a hat made entirely of reflective material (not 3M) that goes for $30. Much more reasonable. It is pretty cool stuff though, really lights up when light hits it in the dark. Next big club jacket?

  17. aintnojoke1 Says:

Also, all the "Shield Pack" shoe have the same big reflectivity. I like the Free's the best.

  18. orka Says:

I'm a runner and would like to know how these stand against rain and snow. Previous Vapor Jackets all had pretty good ventillation and moisture-whicking while running, but one issue I always had is that htey don't stand particularly well to keep water out in wet climate.

  19. spread positivity Says:

Fuck yeah i'd buy this jacket. It looks cool and fuck you non-rich people who don't wanna drop the money on it. I'd drop 600 for this jacket, i love it.

  20. Giancarlos Morales Says:

i agree with Orka. they don't necessarily keep you "DRY". b.c i want one of these and my next door neighbor works at Niketown so u know i am going to ask for the favor.you dig!

  21. SneakerCraze Says:

    Oh but of course…….

  22. SneakerCraze Says:

    $350…..nah….maybe if it was $200

  23. augiegk4life Says:

yup lol. markus got this one, but to the point of the article: $350 is way too much hahaha

  24. augiegk4life Says:

lol ur straight, we know u were right about this one… chill :)

  25. scarch Says:

The Vapor Flash material is highly water resistant. During a 7 mile run in the rain last night it was just beading up. On the other hand, the material also does not wick sweat away so water can build up from the inside. The jacket vents help with this issue, but there are no vents out on the sleeves so that is where you notice trapped sweat. By the end of my run I was about as wet as if I had run with one of my breathable (really breathable, not Gore-Tex) shells, but I was highly visible to cars the whole time.

Let me know if you have other questions about the jacket. It works well for shorter runs or lower temperatures because the inner face material buffers sweat for a while. 5K @ 60 degrees = OK; 10K @ 50 degrees = OK; 10K @ 60 degrees = sweat build-up. I have other initial thoughts, but reserve final verdict until it has gone through many more runs, wash cycles, etc.

    Product Owner, no Nike connection

  26. scarch Says:

The material is quite effective at keeping rain/snow out and your sweat in. The sweat trapping issue is reduced by the substantial vents and use of an inner fabric face that buffers moisture. The jacket works well for short runs or cold temperatures, but not so much for long runs in higher temperatures.

I would not hesitate to run a half marathon in this jacket if it was 50 degrees outside or less. Between 50 and 70 whether to use this jacket depends on run distance and precip. Shorter and in the rain is better. I would not run in this jacket above 70 degrees.

  27. martin Says:

After using the jacket on a run, i saw there were some smudges on the jacket, do not how they got there where i was just running, have any idea what happened?
