The horizon has changed for Nike Sportswear over the last few years. Hybrid models, once the occasional experiment, have become a relative norm. The Nike Air Huarache Basketball 2012 revisits the original Nike Air Huarache Basketball, which slimmed down its curb weight by removing pieces from the upper (yep, that’s why there’s that big window by the ankle) and utilized a inner bootie for a lock-down fit, but clearly there’s something afoot; can Nike Free support the ground and pound a basketball player puts on his feet? The Huarache Basketball 2012 is definitely something old and something new, something borrowed and, in for tomorrow’s big shopping day, something black. The Black/Italy Blue colorway is hitting stores tomorrow, with 21 Mercer reporting just 121 pairs for an exclusive release. Check out the detailed images courtesy of FRESHNESS and let us know if this redone classic strikes the right note.

Sometimes all it takes to make a dope Nike Air Force 1 Low is smart material choices and a simple two toned colorway. We’ve shown you a fair share of tech-upgrades and high end Bespokes, but there’s something to be said about low key joints like the above pictured suede release. Coming on the heels of the black and white suede Uptowns from a couple weeks back, these go with a cloudy shade of obsidian which is paired with white on the accents. The texture on the traditional suede comes alive a bit more than the recent VT releases, letting the tone of the upper slight between shades bit. Get the full look at this new pair after the jump and be on the lookout for this Nike Air Force 1 Low at local NSW spots like Oneness or you can pick them up now on eBay.

There are a few colorways we overwhelmingly associate to specific teams like ‘bred’ with the Chicago Bulls, or black and yellow with any of the Pittsburgh teams. And on the collegiate side of things, few universities can rival the sheer novelty of the maroon and orange combo found pretty much every where you look in southwestern Virginia’s New River Valley. The Virginia Tech Hokies, then, are an obvious connection to this newly revealed Nike SB Team Edition 2, a model whose trendy dress shoe styling cues remind us that VT has been going after a relatively small piece of the color wheel long before tonal sneaker releases were the flavor de jour. Sneaker companies certainly have gotten more bold about paying tribute to ‘herbal culture’. Back in the day a simple hemp upper and a wink-and-nod release date was the most you would get, but this collaboration between Primitive, DVS, and their team rider Torey Pudwill is an homage to California culture that is anything but subtle. The insoles and laces both feature the leafy print, with an extra set of the latter so you can switch them out on school days. The standard DVS tongue-tang is traded out for an image straight off the California state flag, with the familiar bear and star imagery. This capsule packs two pairs of the sneaker shown above, as well as a couple t-shirts to match. Get the full look at the promo spot after the jump as well as detailed images and grab these now from Primitive.

Woolen uppers have hijacked the Nike Air Max 90 VT collection, each of the last models both released and previewed having shown up in the fuzzy winter-ready material. The above pictured ladies pair is like the ‘Tweed’ edition we showed off earlier this month in that they feature flecks of color all throughout the neutral upper, but the effect is much different when it’s black as opposed to grey. This pair ends up less like a sportcoat and more like a scattering of fireworks across the night sky, or perhaps some of the blacklit art left over from Nike Sportswear’s collaboration with Cassette Playa a couple years back. Any way you choose to describe them, this is one of the standouts from an excellent VacTech collection, and you can get yours now from Kicks-crew.

It’s expected that once the back to school season wraps up each August, we start to see a significant shift toward earthier and ‘warmer’ feeling colorways from all the major sneaker brands. Earth tones see a marked increase as the vibrant summer shades enter hibernation, and the latest trio of releases from Supra does a great job of capturing the quintessential greyed-out organic look you’re so likely to see during the shorter days. The Supra Earth Pack goes for the very most neutral colors possible, applying a trio of soft organic-looking colors to the Supra Thunder, Society Mid and Thunder Low. Earthy dark brown, olive or acorn, the choice is yours now as these just popped up at select Supra dealers.

Foot Locker, the biggest retail footwear chain in the world, teamed up with Complex to introduce ‘Kicksmas’, an unofficial holiday of sneaker-giving that truly runs 365 days a year. The event was held at Cabanas in the Chelsea district in New York City, where the lounge/restaurant was decorated with displays showcasing the biggest sneaker releases of the Holiday 2011 season – notably the ‘Black Pack’. Live music was provided by New York’s own DJ Clark Kent, and select attendees were entered into a raffle prize, with the winner receiving the entire Black Pack! Check out a quick video and pictorial recap of Monday night’s events and let us know what sneaker release you’re looking forward to the most, and let your Twitter followers know what you want for Kicksmas by using the #Kicksmas keyword!

If you’re a fan of the Air Jordan VI, 2010 must have been a great year. A slew of new colorways as well as the unforgettable ‘Infrared Pack’ provided a nice refresh for AJ6-deprived collections, and Kanye’s frequent Air Jordan VI sightings have made the shoe quite the high-demand shoe. Looking back at some of the original colorways that have released, the ‘Sport Blue’ colorway comes to mind; it’s never been re-released, and the true shade of blue in the color designation has always been up for debate. Is it ‘Sport’, or is it ‘September’? Let’s set aside the debate and just hope that these release soon! We’ve got a nice treat for you below for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, so take a look at the gallery of images below and check out the auction from brokeonjordans on eBay.

What? January already? We still have the mammoth month of December to get by before we even think about the New Year, but Jordan Brand’s got a nice preview of what’s to come in the beginning of 2012. A number of new models will debut, like the performance-friendly Jordan F2F II and lifestyle-inspired Jordan As-You-Go and Jordan Big Fund Viz RST. You can count on full-length Air Max releases as well, like the Jordan Big Ups in a clean Black/White rendition and the street-stomping City Air Max TRK in a slick new colorway. Check out all of what’s to come from Jordan Brand this January and stick with Sneaker News for more releases as they develop!

The above pictured Air Jordan IV GS ‘Voltage Cherry’ is a sneaker that we’re sure caught many off guard when it first popped up a couple weeks back. For those that have been a bit more attentive to the release patterns of Jordan Brand though, these may not have exactly come out of left field. We saw pinked-out GS colorways in the midst of the Air Jordan V and Air Jordan XIV revivals, so with some big retro releases for the Air Jordan IV in 2012, this may just be par for the course at this point. This GS release goes much heavier on the pink than the aforementioned sneakers, completely covering the upper with the Pepto-Bismol look.
