With the NBA out of commission for an indefinite period of time, Sneaker News shifts its focus on college basketball, where the sneakers spotted on court are undoubtedly much more appealing than those we see in the NBA. It’s a general free-for-all when it comes to what the student-athletes decide to wear on court (so long as they match team uniforms), so here’s a quick recap of some of the heat that was spotted during the week of November 14th to November 20th; the Air Jordan IX ‘Oregon State’ PE, Nike Air Foamposite Pro ‘Carolina’, Air Jordan VIII ‘Playoffs’, Air Jordan XI ‘Concord’, and Nike Zoom Kobe VI iD in a sweet gradient upper are just some of the notable pieces of footwear eye candy, so check ‘em all out below and let us know which of the bunch is your favorite! via ESPN.

VacTech treatment has taken Nike Sportswear by storm, this time appearing on the auto-claved version of the Nike Dunk High. One unique aspect of VacTech treatment is that it gives a shoe a seamless, stitch-free appeal, which is precisely why tonal colorways have gone hand-in-hand with these releases. The Max Orange seen here only accentuates that smoothed-out appearance, but take a look at the rear heel panel and you’ll see that it isn’t molded in with the VT upper, but instead uses tumbled leather. Euro-retailer Asphalt Gold has these in stock right now so check out the images below and keep an eye out for these at select Nike Sportswear retailers soon.

Jordan Brand athletes Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, and Chris Paul are currently at Nike World Headquarters participating in some Pro Training drills and performance testing. During the rigorous workouts, the three Jordan Brand athletes were spotted wearing their newest signature shoes – Carmelo with the Jordan Melo M8, Dwyane with the Jordan Fly Wade 2 (releasing early December), and Chris Paul in the Jordan CP3.V (releasing early 2012). You can see Chris Paul taking part in the Nike SPARQ Sensory Performance, which tests an athlete’s ability to manage a number of senses and fine-tune peripheral vision – a key tool for a player in CP3′s position. Prior to the day of workouts, the three athletes attended the Saturday night game between the Oregon Ducks and USC Trojans which took place in Eugene, OR, just two hours from the Nike WHQ. Check out the superstar athletes drop a few sweats below and let us know which of the three new Jordan Brand signatures you like best.

If you’re an avid follower of Sneaker News (and if you are, many thanks), the sneaker boutique known as Extra Butter should be a familiar name in your internal database of top-flight sneaker boutiques in the States. A friendly and knowledge staff with quite the eye for photography is what makes up the Extra Butter crew, and for the upcoming Black Friday release of the Air Jordan III ‘Black Cement’, Extra Butter will release two versions of a premium snapback hat, limited to just 23 units per design (46 total). What makes this premium offering quite the eye-catching piece is that the bill of the hat is made of 100% genuine elephant hide – a clear and unique call-out to the elephant print that Tinker Hatfield devised back when the Air Jordan III design was conceptualized over two decades ago. Of course, these are only for the true snapback connoisseurs (they’re $200 a piece), so check out the extra shots below and let us know what you think.

Kevin Durant as Marty McFly? It ain’t gonna get him any Oscar nominations, but Kevin Durant as Kevin Durant will get him scoring titles, All-Star selections, and quite possibly MVPs and championship rings. Dude is meant for the court (as are most 6’9″ 22-year-olds), and once the season gets started (hopefully soon), KD will without a doubt rip up the court in the Zoom KD IV, gunning for a third-straight NBA scoring title (no player has done that in the post-MJ Bulls era). Here’s another look at one of the more subdued colorways of KD’s fourth – the ‘Blackout’ edition that has become an annual tradition for almost all Nike basketball signatures; it’s got hints of a dark grey Anthracite on the Swoosh as well as on the KD branding, but that’s all you can really expect in terms of color contrast. Where this colorway lacks in visual pizzazz, the ‘Blackout’ makes up for it on the court thanks to the super-lightweight construction and the all-new KD IV-exclusive Adaptive Fit lock-down strap. We’ve got more for you below so take a good look and let us know what you think. via sneakergo.

Supra has shown that their abrasion-resistant TUF material can be applied in a range of variations and the latest might be on of the most rugged yet visually appealing yet. At first glance, the Supra Skytop III ’Stealth’ appears to be crafted in ripstop or some other heavy-duty material, but it’s actually a ‘military grade’ block stitch TUF that makes us wonder why we haven’t seen more ballistic nylon on skate shoes. The entire shoe is done in a rich smoky color that Supra says is black but appears more like a super-dark grey against a pitch black background. They come with B-2 Spirit hangtags and a night vision motif on the insoles; are these Supra‘s best ‘concept’ release to date? Check them out in greater detail after the jump along with a list of retailers who’ll have the 413-pair run of this year’s Black Friday Skytop III on hand.

The Nike Air Max Uptempo 2 is the definitive mid-90′s basketball shoe. The high-cut profile, the aggressive outsole (darn near a work-boot compared to sexy and sleek lines seen in the Zoom Hyperdunk 2011), and the heel-cushioned Max Air piece are all trademarks of that era, and this simple colorway of Black, White, and Dark Shadow exemplifies the simpler nature of color-blocking of the past (no tonal Mint Green or Solar Red here). If you missed out the re-release of the ‘Duke’ colorway, don’t miss out on these because they’re likely to go fast! Take another peek below and hit up Nikestore to secure yours.

Nike iD recently expanded its list of available options for the Nike Air Max 1 by adding corduroy material to the arsenal. The Air Max 1, now a favorite among Nike Sportswear fanatics, gets an upgrade in the Lifestyle category with this unique fabric that we often associate with classic American fashion (or your 60-year-old English professor’s sport coat). Denim Twill and Soft Suede are still available as well, allowing you to create a clean pair of Ones with high textural contrast – similar to the Patta x Nike Air Max 1 that released in early December of 2009. We’ve got some sample mock-ups below, so check ‘em out and head to Nike iD to arrange your own.
