Supra Wet Pack

The endless supply of packs from the fine folks at Supra have done a good job making sure fans of the crown brand have no shortage of choices for both color combos and materials. The Supra Wet Pack lands in the latter category, dropping a trio of sneakers that boast Neoprene construction with the SUPRATUF technology finish. The resulting footwear should keep your feet anything but ‘wet’, but you get the point. The colorway actually matches well with the gloomy weather that you’re trying to avoid, with a cloudy palette of greys that gets some blue treatment here and there. The drop includes a Supra Dixon, Supra Skytop, and Supra Society-all of which can be seen in greater detail after the jump.

Sneaker News Talks Nike LeBron 9 & More With Designer Jason Petrie

If Jason Petrie wasn’t designing LeBron’s sneakers for Nike, there’s a good chance he’d be on a computer somewhere surfing the sneaker sites for a look at the latest kicks, just like you. As a matter of fact, Jason is still doing that anyway, because unlike many of his trailblazing design predecessors at Nike, he has grown up living and breathing not only design, but also the history and culture surrounding the sneaker game. When Bruce Kilgore was drafting up the Air Force 1 and Tinker Hatfield was designing just about every other classic Nike shoe you love, there really was no tangible sneaker culture, no such word as “sneakerhead” and nowhere near the exchange of information that we see today in the internet age. Those pioneers created shoes that attracted a ravenous fanbase of Swoosh-crazed consumers, and as a result, paved the way for a new wave of creative forces that are now rising to prominence in the sneaker industry. Jason Petrie is one of the leaders of this bold new generation of Nike designers, equipped with not only the necessary technical skills, but just as important, an understanding of the game and an impassioned reverence for the sneaker masterpieces that came before them. Shoes for the people, by the people.

Petrie approaches his work with his finger firmly on the pulse and a humble appreciation for those who spend their hard earned money on the shoes that he brings to life. As lead designer for the Nike LeBron line, he has been entrusted with one of the brand’s hottest commodities and no one takes that responsibility more seriously. With two huge hits under his belt with the LeBron 7 and 8, the pressure is only getting greater every time he sits down to develop the next shoe. As with the previous two, the LeBron 9 was not immediately embraced by the always scrutinous sneaker community, but just like with the others, it didn’t seem to take long for people to come around. We recently sat down with Jason to chat about the NBA lockout, South Beach resale prices and of course, the Nike LeBron 9. Keep reading for the full interview, featuring some juicy LeBron 9 sample pics and some interesting insight into why the LeBron 9 is designed like an odd number and how early versions of the shoe featured Foamposite on the upper!

Does Kevin Durant have what it takes to capture a three-peat of NBA scoring titles? He’s already a scoring-title favorite, but without the NBA having a starting line just yet, not much can go into predictions for the 2011-2012 season. Kevin Durant has commenced the introduction of the Nike Zoom KD IV, as we’ve already seen him rock the ‘Nerf’ colorway during the recent Charity All-Star Game in Oklahoma City as well as the Thunder ‘Away’ version during a work-out session. Cristiano Ronaldo x Nike Street Gato CR7

While his name might not ring bells here in the US the same way it does in the rest of the world, you oughta know who Christiano Ronaldo is. Nike has partnered up with Ronaldo on a new collection that runs from high end soccer gear to more street ready sneakers. Our pick from the pack is the Nike Street Gato CR7, a special reworking of the indoor soccer shoe that gets the full Ronaldo treatment. Inspired by his affinity for clean white designer sneakers, this pair goes with a set of milky tones on the upper along with some black and red hits to tie in with his Real Madrid uni. Get some up close shots of the sneaker after the jump and let us know if you’ve been feeling the Nike Street Gato releases in the comments.

Nike Air Force 1 Bespoke by Geoff Miller

What happens when a trio of friends schedules appointments for the Nike Air Force 1 Bespoke experience at 21 Mercer in New York?  We aleady have the first leg of this triangle thanks to our recent review of Steven Pinkerton’s latest Bespokes, and now comes another of the pairs showed off in the background of some of those images.  Designed by Pinkerton’s boy Geoff Miller, this AF1 Bespoke was inspired by the latter’s car, though we doubt even if he has whitewalls, they’re as crisp and milky as the translucent soles on these Uptowns.  Click through to get a sense for how the patent leather, suede and reflective 3M materials mix together and let us know how these rank against the other Air Force 1 Bespoke designs we’ve shown you here on Sneaker News.  via UGS

Nike Air Foamposite One Metallic Red Black | New Photos

Of all the colorways shown off at the Nike Las Vegas Penny Signature Pack event a couple weeks back, we’ve seen more of the Nike Air Foamposite One in its ‘Metallic Red’ getup than all the others combined. This new pair of  Foam Ones could easily represent the ‘Cranberry’ flavor we’re so used to around the holiday season, but they’re more likely to be linked to those ‘Be Mine’ candy hearts given the release’s proximity to Valentine’s Day. Will all the holiday heat followed by a thoroughly solid Q1 2012 from Nike and Jordan Brand inspire you to find ways to expand your sneaker budget? Check out one of the more significant releases for early ’12 in additional images after the jump and stick with Sneaker News for the official release date. via Kicks-crew

Nike Air Max 2011 Black Treasure Blue

The Nike Air Max+ 2011 was designed to go all the way. All the way from the starting line until you lap back around (and again), all the way from January to December, and across the entire spectrum from tonal and monochromatic designs to bold high-contrast colorways like the one pictured above. The combination of Treasure Blue and black is the kind of thing that’ll have you wondering if one more blue Zoom Rookie could be a good idea, and running would be a great way to spend the extra downtime you have now that we can only reminisce about the NBA. Get up and stay active this winter, and do it in style with these new Air Max 2011s from Nike Running retailers like FinishLine.

Ronnie Fieg x Asics 2012 Footwear Preview

With the Ronnie Fieg x Asics Gel Lyte III ‘Leatherbacks’ release less than 24 hours away, we’re sure plenty of you are gearing up to grab your pair. It’s not unlike Ronnie to drop a sneak-preview of an upcoming project immediately following the release of one, but the timing is switched around a bit here. Taking a look at a recent Kith photo shoot, some interesting footwear popped up. That’s right, it looks like Ronnie has some been working on some more gems unbeknownst to the public, each done up in his signature suede styling. Get the full look at these possible future collaborative Asics releases after the jump and let us know which ones you’re looking forward to the most.

Pendleton x Vans x Nibwaakaawin Chicago Powwow

It’s an undeniable fact in today’s sneaker scene that a vast majority of new innovations are driven by Nike, Inc., even when compared to the remainder of other brands combined.  The company James Van Doren founded in 1966 can lay a similar claim to the skateboarding market in particular, and Vans has even beaten the Swoosh to the punch when it comes to providing support to North America’s aboriginal communities.  As a part of Nibwaakaawin‘s 5th Annual Chicago Powwow, a set of Pendleton x Vans collaborative designs will be offered so that proceeds can benefit the organization’s goal of “keep[ing] our Native youth on the red road and in the skate parks.”  Check out the whole set after the jump and let us know if you plan to attend the November 18-20th event.
