Nike All Conditions Gear was born out of a desire to examine the sporting world outside of hardwood, grass/astro-turf, or a paved running track. ACG exemplified Nike’s explorative attitude, personified by the 1981 releases of the Magma, Approach, and Lava Dome, and in 1989, ACG became official; many of Nike ACG’s greatest designs were the result of a collaborative process behind the brand’s most famed designers and engineers like Tinker Hatfield, Toren Orzeck, and Peter Fogg, and in the thirty years of its existence, ACG has traveled the indirect path from outdoor-performance to cult worship. Shoes like the Air Mowabb paved the way for contemporary ACG designs like the Ashiko Boot and the Lunar Macleay, which, like the early ACG models, were intended to tear up Earth, but have also landed on the pedestal of those who consider ACG the utmost in design excellence. Among the earliest, and still to this day, best, colorways of the Nike ACG Lunar Macleay was the Solar Red ‘China’ edition that hit retailers last October. That bold look added Moss Green accents for one of the most eye-catching modern ACG designs we’ve seen, and here’s proof that the Solar shade is sufficiently vibrant to grab your attention even in a supporting role. Most of these new Lunar Macleay ACGs are done in Anthracite nubuck, which has the overall feel of this new release something like an outdoorsy take on the ‘Infrared’ palettes that remain legendary for so many early ’90s Nikes. Check out the Anthracite/Solar Red Macleays in more detail after the jump and look for them now at Nike Sportswear retailers like Premier.

Kevin Durant’s got all the tools that make up a championship level player. Maturity beyond his years, a merciless offensive arsenal, and well-polished all-around game – the list just goes on. Don’t be alarmed at the fact that the Durant emerged as the best in his draft class and, in just three seasons, the best scorer in the entire NBA and perhaps the world. Nike’s radar for sensing greatness has never failed, and since 2008, the former Texas Longhorn only furthers that flawless streak of successful athletes; together, Nike Basketball and Kevin Durant present the Nike Zoom KD IV – the fourth overall chapter of the Nike Zoom KD legacy.
Sporting a new cross-mid-foot strap with a lightweight upper and the new Adaptive Fit system, the Zoom KD IV is a natural extension of Durant’s game – smooth, seamless, and ready to throw down at any moment. More importantly, the shoe is engineered specifically to adjust to multiple positions on the court. You’ve already seen a healthy previewing of the shoe here on Sneaker News, with special attention going to some of the more high-energy colorways like the ‘Nerf’ and ‘Year of the Dragon’, but kicks things off the right way with the Zoom KD IV when it officially launches on December 3rd, 2011 at a welcoming price-tag of $95. Nike is reliving its glory days of the pre-Y2K era by re-releasing some of its most memorable sneakers of all time. The Nike Air Safari was made popular for its lightweight construction and funky design on the upper, which Tinker Hatfield stated was inspired by a couch he saw at a thrift store. While the Air Safari has re-released on two separate occasions, brace yourself for another Safari redux for 2012, re-done with a light-weight mesh upper and Lunar cushioning. Seven colorways of the Air Safari are to be expected, so take a look at the upcoming re-done classic and let us know what you think of this ‘hybrid’ design.

It was second only to the capital of the brand’s homeland when it came time for adidas Originals to open its initial flagship locations a decade ago, and now the Tokyo AO shop will join its Berlin counterpart with a ‘Made for’ 10th Anniversary release. The adidas Originals Superstar 80s ‘Made for Tokyo’ is inspired by the furistic tech vibe of the city for which they’re named, the mix of leather and rubber on the upper mixed with a soft suede lining plus Clarion synthetics to aide in breathability. They’re coming up for a December release along with a matching track jacket, so click through to see more angles and stick with Sneaker News for the 10th Anniversary Tokyo Superstar 80s release date.

The latest release from Nike Sportswear finds itself in the crux of a number of peaking trends; let’s examine each of the forces contributing to this new Nike Air Force 1 Low VT Premium. First off is the AF1 Low model that’s been revitalized ever since last summer’s explosion, one that along with its hightop counterpart has played a major role in this season’s NSW VacTech collection. Not only that, but there have been several Air Force 1 VTs done in grey, and this pair’s monochromatic construction shows off the kind of colorblocking historians will most strongly associate with this era. So this fossil-colored VacTech Air Force 1 Low is not only a representation of all things currently fresh, but also a model you might want to get in multiples for time capsule purposes. Be it one or several pairs you’re after, NSW retailers like Titolo are the way to go.

To glow or not to glow: that is the question. The Zoom Rookie LWP officially kicked off with the limited Glow In The Dark colorway, but if you missed out on that release, the White/Black colorway should satiate your appetite entirely (if not completely). The White/Black color combination is a throwback to one of the original Air Go LWP colorways (which actually featured a minor hint of purple), but when placed on Foamposite material, it’s got that ‘Pearl’ vibe, doesn’t it? If you’ve been looking to add the Zoom Rookie to your collection, December 21st is the date to mark on your calendar (quite the placement – smack in the middle of the Last Shot and Concord releases). We’ve got a new set of images to assist you in your consideration, so take a look below and let us know if you plan on copping these. via in52.

As the consummate bargain shopper will say, ‘retail is for suckers’. Perhaps that colloquial proverb could be applied to sneakers, depending on what item you’re exactly looking for. A highly anticipated Air Jordan release or limited collaboration? Don’t bet on a discount. But for most other ‘general’ releases, a dedicated search will yield a generous discount – you just need to know where to look. Things are about to get a lot easier as Andy Oliver, a name you may recognize as one of the savviest sneaker deal hunters out there, just launched KicksDeals.com, which offers a great deal on sneakers (both new releases and older models). It’s through KicksDeals.com that you can get some nice markdowns from reputable sneaker retailers, and each sneaker is categorized in a specific price-range (if you’re the type that searches for the best bang for your buck). Check out the site and see what great deals can be had!

If there has been an unifying theme amongst the Nike SB Dunk releases as of late, it would have to be the textured look that we’ve seen pop up again and again. From the Dark Oak Nike SB Dunk Highs to the two pairs of ‘Passport’ lows, it seems that someone over at Swoosh headquarters wants this crop of sneakers to be just as good to feel as they are to look at. The theme will extend well into next year with this upcoming Nike SB Dunk Low that we first showed you back in our comprehensive preview of the Summer 2012 season. We’re back with a detailed look, showing off the combo of pebbled uppers and a faux-snakeskin look on the swoosh that gives these a very reptilian feel. Get the detailed pics after the jump and be sure to stick with us for release info on this Nike SB Dunk Low. via Dunkbar
