mastermind JAPAN x Vans Sk8 Hi

mastermind JAPAN doesn’t always collaborate with major sneaker brands, but when they do, it’s going to be black.  We’re not exactly dealing with the most interesting man in the world here, but mastermind’s take on the immortal Vans Sk8-Hi does indeed apply some attention-grabbing twists to one of the skate scene’s design pillars.  Goign with a simple black and white combo, mastermind alters the classic vulc sole so that it’s mostly black behind a white kickplate and the outsole reveals a checkerboard pattern similar to the one on this pair’s sockliner.  It’s from there you’ll find the shoe’s signature element, a heel zipper that keeps these in step with some of the other notable collabos of Japanese origin we’ve seen in 2011.  How do they compare with the Blazer AB or Air Magma Zip?  Let us know when you click through to see more images and get with your Far East peeps now, because these are available at Bobos for a short time.

Jordan Pro Quick

The Pro Strong model released as Vin Baker’s signature during Jordan Brand’s first round of independent releases back in 1997 recently got a retro treatment, so what about their other major star of the time’s go-to shoe?  Eddie Jones’ original version appears poised for another run in 2012 after its last release in ’04, but this time around, the OG Pro Quicks will be joined by this model that mashes their familiar look together with JB’s contemporary design conventions.  The Jordan Pro Quick sheds some of its likeness to the Air Jordan XIII in favor of something closer to the Air Jordan 2011.  They’re closest to the A Flight variation thanks to the Flywire-reinforced upper but also lean toward the CP3 series thanks to a Podulon-like traction pattern.  Check out the upcoming White/Red/Black colorway after the jump and let us know how these compare to the original Jumpman Pro Quick.  via UC.

Converse Chuck Taylor All Star ‘Coated Canvas’

When it comes to the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star you can’t knock the canvas look, it’s one of those sneakers that has forever cemented its place in footwear history. With that being said it’s always nice to mess with the formula a little bit, and that’s certainly going on here. The front of the typical All Star silhouette breaks into a textured leather toebox, which also encircles the lower half of the sneaker via the foxing. The brown-shoe look is finished off with rounded laces and d-rings on the top end. Let’s also not forget that the canvas featured here is anything but standard, with a weatherproof coat applied as a buffer against the elements. Hit the jump for the full look at grab them now at the Converse webstore.

Reebok Zig Encore John Wall Washington Wizards PE

The lone RBK representative in Foot Locker’s unbalance-your-budget supercommittee known as ‘The Black Pack’ was John Wall’s latest signature in a blackout colorway, but here’s one you’d be more likely to see on court at the Verizon Center, were it not for that pesky BRI dispute.  The Reebok Zig Encore has probably never been more eye-catching than this new Washington Wizards PE colorway, a look that connects with the past thanks to the appearance of piping along its high-contrast colorway, yet one that’s very obviously born of this current synthetics-embracing era.  Click through to see details including one newly added on the medial ankle that might turn out to be a historical inaccuracy; surely that would make sample pairs like this one instantly more valuable.  via SoleAwesome

Nike Air Max Ultra Black Metallic Silver Tour Yellow

When the classic combo of black and yellow shows up on a sneaker it can represent a number of different things for different people. If you’re a hip-hop head it’s the Killa Beez look, if you’re a runner then it’s LIVESTRONG, and if you’re dating Amber Rose then you’re positively giddy that they made another sneaker just for you. Whoever you are, we should all be able to agree that it looks downright dope on the new Nike Air Max Ultra, a shoe that’s quietly been one of the best from this year’s Air Max lineup. Here the glowing ‘tour yellow’ completely wraps up the sole, and permeates through the upper beneath the outer forefoot layer, as well as showing up on the back end. Nike Flex Trainer OTR

Having first introduced the idea of a multi-sport trainer back in the 80′s, Nike has continued to innovate since then without looking back. From the forefront of their footwear releases comes the new Nike Flex Trainer OTR, a shoe that pairs up the flexible DNA from the Nike Free line with an embedded Max Air unit in the heel to give it a deeper degree of mobility. The Nike Flex Trainer OTR is a bit of a big brother to the more trail ready Nike Dual Fusion TR II OTR, with both of them borrowing from the ACG palette for their out of the gate colorways. Speaking of which, check out all three after the jump and if you’re in need of a trainer then get these at Finishline.
