When you own one of the world’s greatest sneaker collections, that level of experience and breadth of understanding can very easily lead to having your absolute favorite be a model that very few beyond the most dedicated sneakerheads would even be able to pick out of a lineup. That’s exactly the case with ShoeZeum curator Jordan Geller, who shared with Sneaker News that his all-time holy grail is one of the oldest old school runners, designed for Nike’s first signature athlete. The Nike Pre-Montreal was crafted with Oregon-born long distance running rockstar Steve Prefontaine, and after an extended absence, Nike Sportswear is finally bringing them back for a retro run. These two original colorways get the pre-yellowed VNTG treatment, but even those who decry the oxidized look will have to admit it’s executed to perfection on this duo. Check them out up close after the jump and stick with Sneaker News for news on the US release date on this spring 2012 drop. via atmos
