Jordan Brand is making a concerted effort to establish a firm presence in the NFL. Getting fined $10,000 for a pair of cleats is definitely one way to do that. Jordan Brand NFL athlete Michael Crabtree of the San Francisco 49ers wore a pair of gold Jordan BCT Speed Low PE cleats against the Pittsburgh Steelers, during Week 15, catch 4 passes for 35 yards and $10,000 in the process. The NFL is especially strict about its uniform rules, fining players for wearing patriotic cleats and gloves during the games that commemorated 9/11. Is this good press for Jordan Brand, or a bad omen? Check out Crabtree’s cleats below and let us know what you think. via ninersnation

I think Crabtree is getting fined every game then because every game I see him wearing a different pair of jordan cleats... Marshawn Lynch did get fined...
I understand if his shoes were NEON ORANGE and did not match his uniform. But they DO match? WTF! I am a Seahawks fan and Mike Williams wears black/volt (neon green) Jordan 14 cleats. NO FINE. Marshawn Lynch wears nikes with Skittles on them.... And no one gets fines. NFL is tripping on petty BS these days.
There are reasons that the league has uniform rules for things such as cleats. Just like glove of a pitcher in baseball, the neutral color is less distracting to the opposing player. Its easier than you all think to lose your focus because of something like as miniscule as that. Its not about being cute on the field by having matching cleats. You can do that with your accessories as long as they are neutral colors.
Dude, coming from playing high school football, the last thing I was worrying about was someone's cleats, so don't get me started on the focus thing. Some kid had some cleated cool grey 11s on and I didnt even realize it until after the game.
All of the fine money goes to charity. It just comes out of what the player/nike is already giving to charities.
The league basically makes them choose a "dominant color" for the cleats and gloves. And that color has to be either black or white -__- I've never heard anyone explain why the hell they need to enforce that much uniformity. I agree with y'all, as long as it matches there should be no problem...
These cleats are dope as fuck!!!! This would cost Crabtree nothing. Nike/Jordan pick up the tab on fines like this. The irony is that Merton Hanks, senior manager and assistant director at NFL, is responsible for handing out fines for equipment violations but he was a Niner back in his day he should like this of all people.
probably fined him for having man made synthetic leather instead of OG NIKE leather!!! see JB your shitty quality got this man a huge fine!!!!
Well, it worked for MJ in the NBA. In this case, press is probably a good thing. Grabs attention to the brand's presence in the NFL, with Jordan paying 10k for it. That's a hell of a lot cheaper than paying for an actual advertisement haha.
The nfl is so effin pu**y! what the hell does a players shoes have anything to do with the fact the they are grown men and have the right to make endorsements outside of football!!!
The nfl it's just flat out petty these days their destorying one of the best sports on this planet with these irrelevant rules just for them to make more money. SMH capitalism is a mofo
I agree with you, but their setting an example to wear league approved cleats. If they didnt enforce this pretty soon youll see Drew Brees taking the field in lime green cleats
His team colors are what? RED and GOLD. What color were the cleats? RED and GOLD. No problem...
for sure they have a Germeny way of thinking when i comes to their rules....give me a break...socks shoes, gloves, who cares....it matches perfect with the uniform
