The Nike Street Gato is starting to pick up steam after a fairly erratic release schedule in its debut year. 2012 looks like we can expect a nice variety of colorways, and following up on our preview of an all-blue suede pair last week, here’s one that opts for an entirely leather construction. The mix of black and dark grey works nicely against Wasp yellow and just a hint of blue on the ‘GATO’ tag, a blocking pattern that we could imagine working beautifully with a huge range of color palettes. This one keeps it relatively simple, belying the complexity of its triangular-textured medial sides, and you’ll see these details in more in additional photos after the jump. via Sneaker Freaker

When the adidas Consortium came back with the ‘Tabula Rasa’ collection, the adidas Originals ZX 500 was one of the models that appeared in the mix repping the powdery white look. While we can all appreciate a clean white sneaker, it’s nice to see that the adidas Originals ZX 500 will be getting a considerable amount more color going forward. The colorway shown here cranks the crayola look up pretty high, with the oceanic tone of blue dripping all over the front end of the sneaker. Throw a bit of red in there too and you have a pair that comes off looking like some 3D glasses you’d get at the movies. Hit the jump for a full look at this upcoming adidas Originals ZX 500 and stick with us for release info. via ATAF

Starting with a few pairs of horsehair-accented Air Max 1s last year, Nike Sportswear began a microtrend toward applying spongy silicon crepe soles to some of its standby silhouettes. There are still a couple of Air Royals on the way with this decidedly boot-like bottom, but suprisingly few of the Swoosh’s competitors have chosen to emulate what’s gotta be something of an inevitable source of inspiration, given how many boot design cues are being borrowed these days. So the Reebok Classic Crepe Pack instantly earns a bit of extra oomph thanks to this relative vacuum, these three new two-toned suede colorways taking the blocking in a different direction than the initially previewed pairs. Click through to see these rustic suede colorups, let us know which one is best and stick with Sneaker News for word on the US release date. via Sneaker Freaker

Most of the sneaker world is anxiously awaiting the release of Kanye West’s second signature shoe with Nike, and while that’s not expected to happen until this spring, Mr. West just threw some interesting info our way via his Twitter. Apparently, Kanye is wasting no time going back to the drawing board (literally), as he has reportedly passed on tonight’s dinner so he can focus on sketching concepts for the Nike Air Yeezy 3. With the top-secret Yeezy 2 still pretty well under wraps, don’t expect to hear much on the Air Yeezy 3 anytime soon, but at least we now know that there looks to be a third Yeezy shoe in progress and the thought of working on it is alluring enough to make Kanye miss meals for it. That’s good enough to get us excited. How about you?

This past week included some major events – the Christmas Holiday weekend and the release of the Air Jordan XI Concord (a ton of you posted your new Concords on WDYWT). Some of you sported your holiday gift pick-ups, like the trio of the Nike Basketball Christmas 2011 Pack, but there was still a nice list of 20 kicks that made it into this week’s Sneaker News Blogs: Best of WDYWT; the Hyperdunk McFly, a sick duo of Christmas-inspired Nike iDs, some OG Concords, and some Nike Basketball gems from the 90′s made up this great list, so take a look at all 20 below and we’ll see you next year!

The Air Jordan III ‘Oregon Pit Crew’ was one of the six selections of the Sneaker News Readers Choice Poll 2011 in the ‘PE’ category, and is likely the favorite to win the category. Both the Pit Crew and the Home White colorway are the truest definition of Player Exclusive, as the Pit Crew Black colorway was released via raffle just for students, and the White pair were made for student athletes, former student athletes, and friends and family. Here we have a nice detailed look at the ‘Home’ colorway, which features a familiar color profile with a Oregon-specific hunter green on the outsole and the ‘O’ logo on the tongue. The colorway is similar to the 2006 release of the Air Jordan XIV White/Green, which has us wondering if an Air Jordan III in a non-PE colorway of White/Green/Black would be popular. What are your thoughts? We’ve got a nice detailed viewing of one of the best Air Jordan III Player Exclusives of all-time below so take a gander and chime in. Many thanks to Jack.

The Nike Air Yeezy remains as one of the most compelling year-round sneaker topics in the game, and with the upcoming release of the Nike Air Yeezy 2, it’ll reach higher heights. Until we do get more solid information regarding the release (tentatively set at 3/23/12), here’s a look at some more Air Yeezy goodness – a 1-of-1 ‘Laser’ sample. It features a similar colorway to the ‘Grammy’ edition that was auctioned off over two years ago, but this particular pair features lasering of the ‘YEEZY’ graphic on the midfoot strap that was seen on heel-tabs of other Air Yeezy samples. Check out the video below to get a look at the sample and let us know what you think.

The Nike Air Max 90 VT will continue as part of Nike Sportswear’s spring 2012 release schedule, but the focus has shifted in recent weeks from the construction that marked the earlier pairs to a concentration of wooly uppers in a variety of knits. And while we got a nice variety of leather and suede VacTech Air Max 90s, the above pictured pair certainly wouldn’t have fallen on deaf ears had they made the cut. These Bright Turquoise AM90 VTs have the same all-over look as many of the other pairs, but this color is just so vibrant that they feel like these would have been in a class by their own. Did NSW nix the best potential release from its VacTech collection, or would you have passed on these during the ultra-stacked holiday shopping season? Let us know what you think about this unreleased sample when you click through to see more angles, and if you want to be the only one wearing these, check out the auction from dballaholic on eBay.

While the ‘Last Shot’ release of the Air Jordan XIV sorta came and went without making much noise (just too much darn heat dropping in December), the XIV will still get some nice representation in early 2012 as the release of the White/Sport Red colorway still looms. As you all know, the Air Jordan XIV was designed with Michael’s Ferrari in mind, and the White base of this colorway truly accentuates then lines and details that make the XIV one the most intricately-designed Air Jordans of all-time. With the Holiday shopping season still going strong (post-Holiday sales, gift-cards, exchanges), we expect these to be a sleeper hit amidst the other scheduled AJ Retro releases of Spring 2012. Will you cop? Let us know below. via soleland.

Following the recent release in their flagship store, these will be finding their way to other top notch retailers across the continent pretty soon. Follow us after the jump for a detailed look at this sleek runner, and let us know if you’ve got a Euro connect who is helping you out on this Asics release. If so, they can be had at spots like Sneakers N Stuff come December 30th.
