Nike SB + 6.0 Changes Coming For 2012

The Nike 6.0 division has proven to be one of the burgeoning sub-categories of Nike’s current apparel and footwear product line – you can say thanks to the worldwide increase of popularity in sports that don’t require bouncing balls and team uniforms. The groundwork for Nike 6.0 was initially laid down by a cult-ish corner of Nike footwear – Nike Skateboarding; SB started off ten years ago with a tiny capsule of multi-colored Dunk Lows, which led to a number of new and re-done classic models as well as signature pro-models like the E-Cue, Tennis Classic, P-Rod, and Zoom Koston One. Following the success of the SB line, Nike 6.0 released its own set of Dunks at chain retailers, expanding its own library in the process. It’s no mystery that Nike SB has plateaued a bit in terms of the ‘gotta have it’ factor (save the QS and inspired release here and there), but during that short span, Nike 6.0 has grown immensely that it has now taken the front-and-center position – with SB perhaps falling under its wing.

A few developments with Nike SB/6.0 products for 2012 have us wondering what plans Nike has for its Action Sports category; for one, the P-Rod line, which is the first recognized signature line with Nike SB, no longer carries the ‘SB’ denotation on its logos, and thanks to these new images from MMASB of N-SB forums, it appears that the Nike 6.0 Mavrk will be fortified with Zoom Air cushioning (a Nike SB staple) while shedding it’s own 6.0 logo from its branding. Add in the acute observation of other N-SB members that Nike’s representation at Action Sports events now feature just a Swoosh (no 6.0 or SB), and we can arrive to the result that 6.0 and SB could be in for a ‘re-shuffling’ of sorts. Wtf sb + 6.0 super gay

  2. Rick "rosay" Ross Says:

    Really? Green sb's suck.

  3. Remone Says:

I think this is a great think, take for example i work at Journeys and we carry 6.0 (we aren't a skate shop so Nike doesn't provide us with Nike SB) but quite a bit of people come in asking for it and we only have Nike 6.0 to offer so I think its great that they're expanding the 6.0 line because a lot retailers don't get the chance to carry Nike SB

  4. safe Says:

i can assure sneaker news that no one gives a fuck about 6.0s

  5. @alexmorreale Says:

    ewwww

  6. javier_tx_teacher Says:

Y is it so hard to find a pair of SBs…its crazy i shop mostly in corpus christi tx…and i dont think theres one place to buy sbs…we have to go to san antonio or houston

  7. Dunkdood Says:

The death of Nike sb as we know it and it's really ashame here comes the shit materials poor quality and teenage hipster appeal of 6.0 …a big suck it to Nike for this shit

  8. windsor Says:

6.0 is shit, always will be

  9. John K. Says:

Nike 6.0 is actually one of Nike's fastest growing sectors in the brand. You're not assuring anyone. It doesn't catch the attention like Nike SB does (or did), but a lot 6.0 footwear and apparel is pretty darn good.

  10. sek Says:

nike sb has been shit after the pink box era a couple of black box joints were decent though and the p-rod fell off after the 2nd joints

  11. aron Says:

oh you from courpus? my moms from there and i visit every year. nice to see someone else from there. i cant say where to find SBs, ive seen a couple of skate shops. never been in one but yea, i only know of the big mall thats left and they only have the chains. but theres some nice kicks left. theyre were the lebrons still in stock, griffeys, AJ 2s, damn.

  12. @JustlikeMyk Says:

Don't like this idea! 6.0 is shit I agree! They are too commercialized and easy to find unlike Nike SB! Which give Nike SB the edge as it is a hard to find brand and stocks are limited!

  13. javier_tx_teacher Says:

well im from further south but thats the closest "big city" in my area….and yeah if its not a big jordan release it will sit forever…

  14. the truth Says:

this dude wearing the roller derbys in the picture.. we see you cousin!

  15. james lowery! Says:

If random dope quickstrikes still exist only in skateshops…i'll be content…nike SB is basically dead anyways… there are so few good releases nowadays..

  16. Phillips Says:

    No it truly is shit

  17. Phillips Says:

Nike sb second to 6.0…. yeah ok nice bit of reporting there sneaker news, sb is the reason 6.0 is big, look how many people whine 'cause they cant find Sb's so have to go buy this cheap shit

  18. starzy01 Says:

6.0's are terrible, i think everybody would be happier if they got rid of the brand.

  19. @gcskateshop Says:

They (Nike) will merge the two SB and 6.0 Brands due to the comparison between the two sub divisions. The Merger should take place Fall 2012 and it will indeed DROP the "SB" AND "6.0" title's and rename them "NIKE SWOOSH."

  20. max Says:

Who knows what is actually happening here the whole report is so vague… So what if Nike removes the 6.0 from their lower tier sneakers and pops in a zoom air. That doesn't mean that SB and 6.0 are merging. Don't worry people the Nike SB line will remain exclusive to skate shops that's the only way they achieved legitimacy.

As far as being able to find a pair of SB's at journeys. Well that would just be the end of the brand… SB's are not hard to get via the Internet, but just hard enough that every D-bag in the mall doesn't have a pair.
