Sure, some solitary sneaker releases like the recent Air Jordan XI ‘Concord’ Retro and a few others have packed as much (or more) anticipation and frenzy, but we’re not sure if there’s ever been a date in sneaker history with so many high profile releases all dropping on the same day. Where do we start? How about the Dave White Air Jordan 1 which has been heavily previewed and eagerly awaited while sitting in limbo without a confirmed release date? Or maybe the Nike ‘Black History Month’ Collection featuring Nike Basketball’s three-headed signature model monster and an accompanying set of four NSW offerings? Still not cracking your wallet open? Perhaps the ‘Old Royal’ Air Jordan X will change your mind. Or with Valentine’s Day on the way, maybe it will be a pair of the ‘Voltage Cherry’ Air Jordan IV GS for the lady or little lady in your life. Last but not least is the ‘Dynamic Blue’ colorway of the popular Zoom Rookie LWP model which has thus far been absent from the 2012 release schedule until now.
Quite a crop indeed, and while there is no singular release in the eleven sneakers anywhere near Concord-ian magnitude, the sum of all these parts adds up to quite possibly the most action-packed release date we’ve ever seen and a lot of difficult decisions for sneakerheads everywhere. Oh yeah, and by the way, White/Cement Air Jordan IV’s drop next Saturday and the All-Star weekend batch at the end of the month may trump this week’s bonanza. Hottest month ever? Foot Locker thinks so. Time to smash open those piggy banks and gear up for month long release mayhem, all starting tonight at midnight on NikeStore and nationwide at brick and mortar retailers like Extra Butter. Let us know what you’ll be copping tomorrow night and stay tuned to Sneaker News for all the latest on the February heatwave.
Feb. 23-25 All-Star Weekend Nike and JB will do it all again with Nike's All-Star line up Kobe 7, Lebron 9, KD 4, 3 pair of All Star Dunks, 2 Nike Air Flight One, Galaxy Foams, AJ 2012, Spizike, and Diamond Turf's All in Three Days.... FML Nike and JB are raping the shit out pockets already but this is ridiculous.
I was on hold for over an hour on the 4th when 3 shoes released: The red Foams/Bordeaux Spizikes/black/grey Kobe VII. That's an elite release, an average to above average release and a plain release that hasn't sold out a single size since. I can't even imagine what this is going to be like. That and if the Flight Ones Orlando/Foam Galaxy/KD Kobe LeBron AllStars/Jordan 2012 YOTDs release on the same day..whoa
passin this weekend..nothing interests me to be honest..waiting on cements and those orlando flight ones!
It seems as though this might be the biggest release day ever, but in my opinion it will be trumped in less than 2 weeks. Nike/JB are smart, they realize a very high percentage of these kicks will sell out as they've made it much easier for re-sellers to buy up everything by combining everything into a one day event. The funny part of this is, and trust me it is funny, the re-sellers who buy up everything will suddenly realize they can't turn a profit because they've got too much and they'll end up re-selling to break even or possibly lose dough. While some re-sellers are indeed smarty pants, the vast majority are newbies and this will be the true test to see if they understand the basic concept of supply and demand.
1ST!!!!!! AND I WILL BE GETTING WING ONES IF NO RESSELLERS BUY OUT MY SIZE LIKE USUAL....UGH SO NOT FAIR TO NOT GET A DECENT ONCE IN ALIFE TIME RELEASE AT RETAIL CUZ SOME IDIOT WANTS TO BE AS SELFISH AS TO MAKE HIS LIFES EARNINGS OFF OF IT...
