Air Jordan IV Cavs

Jeremy Lin’s continued excellence has been perfectly timed with Carmelo Anthony currently out nursing an injury, both for the once struggling New York Knicks and Melo’s sneaker backers.  Lin’s not a Jordan Brand athlete, but all the attention on the orange and blue (and black) means that this upcoming Air Jordan IV release is sure to get its fair share of ‘Linsanity’-laden references in the sneaker blogosphere.  But despite Michael Jordan coming up in conversation this week as we’re reminded that he’s the most prolific scorer in the history of basketball at Madison Square Garden, a recent look-see event saw Jordan Brand unveil them with a more logical theme.  The Air Jordan IV ‘Cavs is a reminder that before Lin sent Floyd Mayweather a rather public ‘Stick to boxing’ tweet at Air Canada Centre last night, MJ took a game winning jumper of his own to crush Craig Ehlo and the 1989 Cleveland Cavaliers, ending the Bulls’ opening round upset of the three-seed in spectacular fashion.  We’ve seen a variety of Cavs and Knicks colorways on a select few Air Jordans including some spectacular PEs over the years, but is this the best one to hit retail yet?  Let us know what you think about the corrected inspiration and stick with Sneaker News for the ‘Cavs’ Air Jordan IV release date.  via rstor

    Ehh

  2. BuddhaShark Says:

I hope SN is still hiring writers. I have no idea what this article is about.

  3. PrestoneFuego Says:

I'm not trying to sound stupid, but I thought these were called the Knicks already..? Not the Cavs.

  4. james harrison Says:

cleveland is crap. the cavs are crap. no wonder they made it look like crap.

  5. BubbaBomb Says:

Slowly, these are starting to grow on me…
    They're no Doernbechers though…
Really liked those but missed out on them….

  6. mrELsenor Says:

for some reason i like them now more as the cav 4s..probably cuz it has a better connection to jordans legacy and isn't just some colorway someone thought up. lin should still cop a pair and rock them..

  7. wayne brooks Says:

These are better than the Knicks colourway!

  8. Tim Says:

Getting this to match my lin Jersey.

  9. FinneganSnikes Says:

hoorah for a jordan with a cleveland influence!!

  10. Big-Ben623 Says:

    f*** cavs!

  11. Harding Says:

SOOOOOOOOO now they're called the "Cavs"??? Really, after so many people originally named these the "Cavs" despite Sneakernews and every other Sneaker Blog Site continuously calling these a "Knicks" colorway. Hmmm, wonder why?

  12. Big Infinite Says:

Cuz jordan is da Cavs killer

  13. John K. Says:

Jordan Brand confirmed the 'Cavs' connection during a look-see preview.

  14. Josh Says:

Jordan dominated the Cavs in the 4s so this makes more sense than the Knicks but I still wish they used white instead of black. Then they would actually look like the Cavs colors.. not knicks..

  15. walt Says:

    seriously?

  16. comon.. Says:

hmm no thanks you could totally tell they crease real nice and easy look at the net on EVERY SINGLE POST caved in…smh xtra pass

  17. Dave-O Says:

What would the significance of calling these "Knicks". There was nothing special about that playoff series against the Knicks. MJ's shot on Ehlo is one of MJ's top 10 moments in his career.

  18. Jamie JWho Seltzer Says:

I'll bet these are the "23rd Anniversary" 4's that I've seen listed on some release date lists. No other details are provided. It just so happens that 1989 (the playoff series against the Cavs mentioned in the article above), was 23 years ago…..

    Who's with me?

  19. Sneak N' Geeked Says:

i think the writer might be a just be a Cavs fan

  20. Big Infinite Says:

Dont matter wat they called, these are gonna b da knicks in my book & these will b copped…. No question bout it

  21. dandre Says:

    im still calling the knicks

  22. Quadruple K Says:

Eff that!! White Blue Orange = CAVS, Black Blue Orange = Knicks

I think Melo doesn't want to be outshined by Lin

  23. anonymous Says:

    not liking the suede.

  24. WGB Says:

My bad. Same colour but different name. Still these pic look better than previous ones.

  25. dead astaire Says:

True i think "Cavs" is a better name for these, that shot he hit on Ehlo was in the bred iv's, if they did a Knicks shoe, it should be a vi or a vii or even a x(double nickel game), those were the years the bulls and knicks really went at it.

  26. Sneaker Experet Says:

It would of been better if the colors blue and orange were switched. more orange would of been better than more blue.

  27. Stoney Says:

Sneaker news is over hyping these shoes

  28. smh Says:

why are you gonna talk about jeremy lin after you change the concept from knicks to cavs. smh

  29. JRICH707 Says:

Ok I love the shoes, but the naming thing raises a question here. Jordan took that shot over Ehlo in 1989 last time I checked in 1989 the Cavs colors were burnt orange, blue, and white they didnt incorporate black into their uniforms until 1994 when they moved into Gund Arena. So honestly I get the intention behind naming these the Cavs cuz of the shot, but the colorway just doesnt match up with the time period. When I first saw these my first thought was "Knicks Colorway" honestly, but either way Im gonna get them just cuz Ild love some blue and orange on a IV for a change!!!

  30. ant Says:

i was thinking the same thing. Run on sentences galore. Cant make sense of any of it

  31. ravg Says:

bs, something happnd dat they didnt want to call knicks anymore, this is clearly a knicks cw. lin sanity is great for these as knicks

  32. Fam Says:

Look much better with the black background

  33. ActualFacts Says:

    really-these are no Doernbechers??

the DB's are ugly AF.lol But since they were limited, hyped and had a superman logo on the tongue people bought them. Jordan Brand at its finest, they know what they're doing.

But now that they release a good looking shoe, with original colors(not the same old white/black/red and not a shoe that was created by a child with ugly color schemes)and it has some ACTUAL history from MJ's career, and everybody wants to hate on it cuz its not limited and not hyped.

I will DEF cop these. Dont care if all the self-proclaimed "sneaker-heads" in the world throw salt, these are refreshing.

  34. Vic Says:

if they were for release i'd buy em

  35. smds Says:

Like these better than the white cements and mars.. dont give a fucckk.

  36. Jerronimo Says:

Knicks, Cavs, Bobcats.. whatever they want to call them they are STILL UGLY to me. They look cheap and people will still buy them… just watch the SOLD OUT sign pop up on every site on release day. I'll pass>>>>>

  37. eric Says:

I will keep sayin it these are dope but I do agree that something happened is the reason that they are not calling them the KNICKS anymore but they can call them the METS if it’ll makem feel better im still coppin

  38. @LuneyToonLand Says:

I really dont c y change da name BLUE ORANGE AND BLACK scream KNICKS. If the had white instead of black then call it cavs. But either way I'm copping. I need something more than the basic RED BLACK AND WHITE. And who ever is sneaker news writer is needs to go back to grammar elementary

  39. huh? Says:

milatary blue iv's on black with a bit of orange, lol

  41. PrestoneFuego Says:

Oh I was just commenting on the fact I had seen them as "Knicks" before. That's all. "Cavs" makes more sense given the history behind it. Thanks.

  42. K chinn Says:

Whoa. Theyre growing on me. Will cop if they go on sale

  43. Maxair25 Says:

    whats the date?

  44. F Wannabes Says:

WOW…..! Thanks for another damn post on these….SMDH!!! like if we didnt just see the post on these yesterday or the day before or even got damn today!!! got damn jbs hype men lol!! i know you guys are getting paid lmao…cause man ooh man! just like that one guy said "its like the song you hate but after you hear it 25xs you start liking it" and thats what SN does and for the weak minded 15-20year olds it works! smh…#over kill

  45. kamon Says:

no he was riding the lin band wagon, obviously. Damn the knicks are annoying, still under .500 and still over hyped.

  46. CISTHAKING Says:

so are these suppose to be the "23rd anniversay 4s" thats droppin in the summertime?

  47. aches1 Says:

4's are my favourite Jordans of all time, but I just don't like these. Has nothing to do with them not being limited or hyped, the colours and distrubution of said colours just do nothing for me (although they do look much better in these pics than when I first saw them).

The connection to the Ehlo shot is cool though.

FWIW, I thought the Doernbachers sucked too, as I'm not 10 years old.

  48. @bad_news_trues Says:

what the hell is this article bout lol

  49. nic Says:

These aren’t bad, but i’d cop military blue’s before these any day

  50. Zakeel Says:

    hahahahahahahahahhaa

  51. maedae Says:

Do people know that the first pics of these they were the 23rd anniversary 4s… Quit thinkin Ur a smart ass guessing shit.

  52. @jtrain73 Says:

In my humble opinion, these are easily the worst IVs when compared to white/black cements, fire reds and military blues. But hey, who cares? The hype they generate will mean these fly off the shelves. All they have to do now is say they're limited quantity and boom, they'll be sold-out and on eBay in 2 hours.

  53. Abdi Says:

smh. i guess u dont know shit bout 10s. There is a knick colorway for aj 10. step yo game up.

  54. E-Double-E Says:

I think the black base color represents the black shoes Mike wore in the game, mixed with Cavs colors from the uniforms and the court. Just like the Pistons and Lakers air Jordan 6's did a short while ago.

  55. JaysoverEverything23 Says:

The shoe looks pretty good to me actually. I hope all you Mofos dont buy it. It will be easier to get.

  56. J Smooth Says:

Guys, I could be wrong here and they might not had even thought about it hard. But I would guess that they did because… Well it's an Air Jordan sneaker. And what I'm thinkin is that reason why the shoe is predominantly all black is because the original "bred" 4 was too, all black. So therefore they would keep it close to the original design regardless of whatever color it might have been and then added Cavs blue and orange to it. Idea anyone?..

  57. Pimpsnickerz Says:

the colorways nice, but lin doesn't deserve his own kicks

  58. MeMeMe Says:

i cant put a connection between the details on these shoes and jeremy lin…wtf?

  59. jimmy Says:

Pot and a GED are at play here

  60. KDDDDDDD Says:

NBA was weak as hell when jordan played, he would not dominate today

  61. Deion Says:

    When do these come out?
