When we kicked off the Sneaker News March Madness Non-OG Air Jordan Tournament a few weeks back, there was no way to predict who would come out on top at the end. Unlike the OG colorway Air Jordans that have firmly cemented their place in sneaker history over the years, this batch of kicks doesn’t boast quite the same level of across-the-board agreement on which are the all-time greats. While there was plenty of heat to be found, the title was certainly up for grabs by any of the 32 worthy competitors that entered the tournament. Most of the higher seeds found early success, but there were quite a few surprising upset runs as well, eventual leading to a Finals match-up of two number 2 seeds – the ‘Raging Bull’ Air Jordan V vs. the ‘DMP’ Air Jordan VI.
As with many of the match-ups, this one remained pretty close throughout the vote-off with your eventual champion finally managing to create some breathing room towards the end before locking up the title once and for all. You may not necessarily agree that the winner you crowned is in fact the greatest non-OG Air Jordan of all-time, but you have only your fellow sneakerheads to blame, as these results were determined entirely by your votes. Keep reading after the jump to find out who took the crown in our March Madness Non-OG Air Jordan Tournament and thanks to all who participated in the voting!
FINALS VOTING RESULTS
SOUTHWEST Air Jordan V ‘Raging Bull’ vs. SOUTHEAST Air Jordan VI ‘DMP’
CHAMPION: Air Jordan V ‘Raging Bull’ – 59.6%
So here we are – finally crowning the overall winner of the Sneaker News March Madness Non-OG Air Jordan Tournament. The Air Jordan V ‘Raging Bull’ has been named the king of the non-OG Air Jordans, beating out two heavily favored models in the Air Jordan VI ‘Olympic’ and Air Jordan XI ‘Cool Grey’, while easily handling the Air Jordan VI ‘DMP’ in the Finals in one of the more emphatic wins (in terms of voting percentage) of the entire tournament. Almost all of the later match-ups were nearly split down the middle, so you’re either pleased or astounded at this result; chalk it up to the tournament-style of play, in which match-ups are key or maybe just the general ‘underrated’ nature of the red Raging Bull – the bottom line is that it was you, our faithful readers, that chose the winner!
Regardless of how you may feel about the end result, the Air Jordan V is considered by many to be one of the best Air Jordan models in history, and paired with a daring red colorway with a remixed Chicago Bulls vibe, the Raging Bull V was destined for greatness – despite it not being an overwhelming crowd-pleaser when it first released in 2009. can't even believe these got out their bracket much less won but I'm not mad thought it woulda been Lightning 4s and Laneys but oh well...what will they think of next?
Wow not one of you guys mentioned the Thunders--an 8 seed---they were $500 retail upon release and they just look insane on the feet---that matchup right there threw the whole thing into a joke for me--DMP 6's over Encore 4's and Undftd's trippin, the DMP 6's arent's even the nicest part of that amazing pack--atleast the Red Raging Bulls are by far the dominant between the two---Thunders vs. Olympics though?? wow
hypebeast ruined this whole tournament my final four would've been 00 olympics bin 9's eminems 4's and 2's real heat
they never made it to the outlet! if you bought them online you can take them back to nike outlets. thats the only way they made it there!!
I don't understand why some people are mad that the Vs won or from a different view that the DMPs lost. This whole tournament was just unbelievable. It's my opinion some will agree and some will disagree but I never expected these 2 to be in the finals anyway. There were so many better sneakers that I just couldn't believe were eliminated. Hell there were some in the "play in" round that didn't make it past that and I was surprised but none the less, glad this is over.
instead of y'all hating why don't y'all just say which non- it colorway was your fab and see how many + or - you get I was personally going for the undftd 4s Wished the university blue and black fives were on here instead of the burgundys and the chambray 7s
Well deserved win! ONE of the best Vs out there in my opinion. Just didn't really care for this bracket as much....
The raging bull got my vote but I was hoping for the undftd IV to at least be the championship contender
I no longer fuck with you people on this site. Smfh. Idc if it's opinionated. DMPs are def better...but lets be honest...Oly VIs shoulda won the whole thing.
Very VERY happy these won, they're my favorite pair of Jordans and I copped a 2nd pair to stock back in November (Flight Club is waayy over priced smh) Love this shoe
NOOOO wow didnt expect that. Voted for the DMPs but the Raging Bulls are really nice. Retro the Toro Bravo pack and the DMP pack JB.
ARE YOU EFFIN KIDDING ME!!!!??? I think this is ridiculous. DMP 6s should have smacked the Raging Bulls. I don't even like these. RIGGED VOTING!!!
Not surpirsed at all. Now that being said its not like i wouldnt gladly accept any of these shoes if they were given to me:)
I was thinking the same thing! It would of made it far too IMO. Blue suede Js! Hats off to the Red Raging Bulls though. How can anyone hate on red suede Js? It's screams attention with the material and color. I think that's what mainly won it.
It's cause their a lot more young idiot assholes copping js. I knew the day some raging bulls get picked over a dmp 6 game was over. Them shits was wak I would of picked the 3ms over these whores
