Air Jordan XII ‘Playoffs’ Will Be Nike’s First ‘Twitter RSVP’ Release
April 19th, 2012 by John K. | 64 comments

Nike will officially launch its Twitter RSVP release system to coincide with this Saturday’s release of the Air Jordan XII ‘Playoffs’. The ‘Twitter RSVP’ system only applies to the in-store releases of its 24 Nike retail locations and will not affect the online release that is currently scheduled for Friday at midnight EST (technically Saturday morning). It is likely that Nike will reserve the Twitter RSVP to big-ticket items such as Air Jordan Retro releases, high-profile Nike Sportswear releases (Foamposites), and other Nike Basketball releases such as the upcoming Elite collection. To address another concerns, you will indeed be able to send a Direct Message to the Nike Twitter handles, as they are Verified and don’t need to be following you in order for a DM to be sent. Be on the lookout for the RSVP today – full instructions are just below (or click here).

NIKE STORE LAUNCHES – TWITTER RSVP
Twitter RSVP is used to help manage product launches at Nike Stores. Follow your local Nike Store on Twitter for launch announcements and frequent updates.
The Twitter RSVP Process:
- On the RSVP date, our store will send a tweet at a random time to begin our Twitter RSVP process, including a product specific hashtag (#tag).
- Once registration is open, you must Direct Message (“DM”) the store within 60 minutes. The DM must include:
- The product-specific #tag tweeted by the store
- The last 4 digits of your State/Passport/Military/School ID number
- Your shoe size (limit one).
- Confirmations from the store will be sent via DM to those who have successfully secured their requested size. Shoes will be awarded on a “first respond, first serve” basis.
- Confirmed recipients must pick up their product (in person w/ identification) from the store on the day of launch. Unclaimed product will be announced on Twitter and will be re-released at the store’s discretion.
How do you properly RSVP through DM? Here’s an example:
- Store Tweet:
Twitter #RSVP is now open for the Air Foamposite One.#Electrolime - Consumer Response (DM):
#Electrolime, 4253, 10.5(For more information about sending a DM, see the Twitter Help Center.)
Twitter RSVP Terms and Conditions:
- One item allowed per person, even if you receive two confirmations of successful registrations. Abuse of this rule may result in denial of purchase or entry to future launches.
- Confirmed recipients must provide a valid ID that matches the last 4 digits used for RSVP.
- Size cannot be changed once it has been confirmed to a person through Twitter RSVP.
- Resell or trade of Twitter RSVP confirmation is prohibited.
- Twitter RSVP confirmation is not transferable and not redeemable for cash or for credit towards any purchase.
- Lines will not be allowed to form outside the store for this release.
- Launch process is always subject to change at any time at the discretion of Nike, Inc.

This is just as bad as online releases. I responded to Nike Santa Monica within 15 minutes of the rsvp release and I still didnt get em. Soon all of twitter will be shut down because of so much people sending direct messages lol.
This dosent solve anything, more than half the states in america dont have an official nike store, and people who actually have jobs or school dont have the ability to sit on a computer all day on twitter, this will only help resellers. good jobe nike the stores with most power over sneaker game( footlocker, champs, footaction ect..) still have campouts.
I heard from my hookup that Jordan Brand has came out with an official policy that there can no longer be any presales, holds, etc. Of course not all retailers will abide by it but she said they will! I'm guessing this is one reason they now have an official policy. This policy will create more hysteria!
Has anyone noticed that recent Jordan retros are not true to size? My cement 4s feel and look a 1/2 size to big. I also tried on the playoff xii's size 9 and they felt way to big. right now im wearing my flu games from 09 and they fit way better..... Btw. Was not that impressed with quality when I had these in my hand.
There is on Nike town where I live. Its bullshit.
got mine today....shitty quality. plastic eyelets. sold them
This is great so the ppl go don't live by Nike stores still get fuckery like employee reselling nice problem not solved smh only way problem is solve build a online buy online site where any1 caught reselling ,above retail is booted for life
I don't even have a twitter account this is some B.S!! -.-
I miss the good ol' days when you could walk into any sneaker store on any given day and cop a pair of jays without the hassle of camping or paying above retail for kicks. It disgusts me to see how the shoe game is now-a-days.
WhaT the..... So when the Yeezys come out or some big release you expect people in Florida not to line up and camp? This makes no damn sense.....
they want me to pick up mine at 8-9 am on Saturday, WTF thats not happening...
So does that mean I can't get $$$ for letting hypebeast skip me in line ?
Fuck that
FUCK THIS!! STRAIGHT UP!!
i was able to rsvp 2 pairs of 12s in nyc one at niketownnyc and niketownrooseveltfd
damn i wanted to do this but for the nike town in chicago its being remodeled until september
This worked out good 4 me. I was able to rsvp my pair. Drivng to try and get a wrist band is a hit and miss. Depending out what time they send out the tweet to get wrist bands and hoe far i am from the nike store and traffic is a big gamble. The twitter rsvp makes it an even chance for ppl to get shoes.
Still wish it was those days when one could just walk into the store, find ur size and cop with ease. Now, u have to go through this s*** just to cop a pair of shoes. -______- ("Wings" - Macklemore)
because so many ppl want them and nike knows this and only make so many pairs. Its hard to tell which shoe is gonna sell out . I live in dallas,tx, and the the white cement 3s and true blue 3s came out they stayed on the shelf for weeks. But when tha blk cement 3s came out they sold out. When tha gey 14s and last 14s came out they stayed on the shelf for weeks. But when the red and white ones came out. they sold out same day. I dont really like tha 10s, but all of them sold out. So its hard to tell what will sell out. So we will c, if there will be any hype about the next jordans coming out in may.
So they're all ready finding more and more ways to increase price whilst decreasing quality of materials used, to maximise profits... then we have to sit on a street corner for days to purchase a shoe we want because they choose to make them ridiculously limited. And now they want us to go to even more lengths just to have the honour of being able to GIVE them our money? Whats next, one day we'll have to go to the factory to make our OWN 40th re-issue of the Jordan XI Concord? Ill have to do a shoe-making course if i want to buy a pair of J's? lol. Ahh to be an obscenely rich world-wide corporate conglomerate and be able to play with my customers however i see fit, like little addicted tiny ants with no choice but to keep handing over money.
son why u spell honor with a U?
you have issues son
They have been doing this at niketown seattle since jan & i can tell you guys it doesnt work (lol at least for me). It's really like ordering online & with all my attempts i've never been successful however they will give you the day that they issue the tweet however it will be random during that day. & for people who have job/school it will be hard to follow a random tweet while at work doing your job and no telling who handles that twitter data & who is in their interest when they decide. To me it works in favor with a reseller because now they can reserve a guaranteed pair that thursday and go camp out at another store like footlocker and get a pair online at midnight._ _
This is what happens when society can't act civilized. Welcome to the future. Thanks to all the idiots that made this possible. I can no longer obtain sneakers like a normal person at a retail price from a retail store.
this is nikes fault. its thier policies and distribution that creates these issues
2nd that. Also, an online retailer. SMFH! -______- (45 out of 150+ sneaker joints revealed)
US only? fuck.
"Shoes will be awarded" does this mean they're free???????
price is $160
... and pretty soon we will all have to get recommendation letters from the President and kneel down in front of Nike HQ in order to buy a pair of sneakers... JESUS CHRIST!!!! Where is this going to????? It's pure madness!! The sneaker game is dead, rotten, it stinks!!!
wtf u talkin about?
They've been doing it for months in LA and Santa Monica
stuff rite here is retarted!!
Nike Running stores carrying basketball releases too?
i was wondering the same thing
Well there's no way the sneaker game can get much worse. So i'm down for some change.
Agreed
I'm confused, it says they release friday at midnight in the text. Is that Friday at midnight as in tonight at 12am or tomorrow friday at midnight which is technically Saturday?? Little help
technically saturday
NikeChicago is closed for another 5 months so it makes it unfair. Terrible timing
They've been doing this for months. I usually just go to HOH instead no need for the BS
BULLSHIT!!!!!!
Nike wouldn't have to do all this if they would just produce more shoes. Eliminates mayhem, camp outs, resellers. Make the shoes gr and stop making them limited. JUST DO IT
My dude they are a GR the concords were a GR people just don't know how to act civilized.
well in a lot of places the Concords were very limited for some reason it may not have been Nike's fault but it still does suck for those of us that waited in the blistering cold only to find out that the store only had a few pairs
yeah seriously. Christmas is getting less happier for me as I can't get my hands on every single XI at retail price. 400-500 dollars for a freakin shoes don't make sense to me.
if it don't make sense then don't buy it
But that would be boring
If i'm correct, most of these retro release jordans are general releases. Just a high demand.
To me this is up and down. Its good that u dont have to camp out for a pair of shoes But its bad that this shit is too complicated.
its bad that they dont release enough shoes for everyone, but whatever they gotta reason for it. economics
What he means is, it shouldn't be this hard to buy a pair of Js.
What I mean is, they definitely made it more difficult to grab shoes but imagine working Nike, inflation exists for a reason and that plays a part in economics
THIS is totally idiotic! are you serious?!!? so what happens if you dont have a twitter?? matter fact what happens when you dont have a computer?? its unfair to others this is the dumbest thing nike has done....SMFH...this is way way way to complicated so basically you have to stalk the nike twitter like their Bit.Chs until they post... WTF is that?? stop this...
it's 2012, you don't have a computer? If you can't afford a computer, then you sure as hell can't afford $160 shoes. Think before you type...
I don't think he was talking about himself personally
how can u post this comment if u dont have a computer?
sending one very short message is complicated?
having to basically stalk the Nike twitter account in order to make sure you see the tweet on the day of the RSVP so you can ensure your size is kind of difficult unless you have all day to just do that
well if people have the time to sit outside House Of Hoops for almost 2 weeks waiting for the Yeezy 2s in NYC before they even had a set release date, i dont think stalking twitter is that bad.
Who wants to buy my twitter rsvp?! hahaha thats what nike did create another way to resell shoes
No. You have to enter your last 4 numbers from your id which is checked at the counter so selling your rsvp isnt possible
you're not allowed to sell your twitter rsvp
you have to put your state i.d number so that won't really work
