At least in this one particular element, the Air Jordan IV release pictured above is quite a bit like gangsta rap: there’s some controversy swirling around the context with which it’s being delivered, yet anything that causes a discussion of language including “Taxonomic beef” most definitely has something to offer us. That’s how one retailer described the ongoing argument as to whether the model known as the ’Cavs’ Air Jordan 4 might rightfully be dubbed ‘Knicks’, given which team actually still wears these colors. But older Clevelanders will be able to provide the last piece of the puzzle: the fact that 1989′s ‘The Shot’ coincided with that same year’s plow-down of CLE’s defunct Central Market, the site upon which the Gateway Project was constructed. Put another way, Michael Jordan so badly crushed the Cavaliers in that year’s playoffs that they finally got a plan together to move out of the old Richfield Coliseum. The rest is history, except for the Air Jordan IV ‘Cavs’ release date, which comes up on Saturday, May 12th at stores like Social Status, or just get yours now on eBay.
