On Saturday, LeBron James was officially announced as the 2011-12 NBA Season MVP, earning an unprecedented third honor in this era and joining quite the impressive unit of fellow multi-MVP winners like Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, and Wilt Chamberlain. What separates LeBron from that honored group is the LeBron is the only one to not win an NBA Title, but he’s definitely on his way as he led the Miami Heat to a Game 1 win against the Indiana Pacers while wearing the Nike LeBron 9 ‘MVP’ after being presented the award in front of the Home crowd. Of course, Sneaker News was first to give you a look at the LeBron 9 ‘MVP’, which boasts a mix of Heat-specific colorways with a sick ‘MVP’ medallion on the heel; these have been confirmed for a limited release next month so take a look at LeBron wearing the LeBron 9 ‘MVP’ during the earlier portion of the game and stay tuned to Sneaker News for more updates on this special edition release. One other thing that separates him from Michael aand Wilt, they didn't need MVP on their shoes to let everyone know that they were the most valuable player.
I don't know what it is but there's just something about this shoe that I don't like!! And I've liked most of the Lebron 9s colorways. Oh well if they drop that will just be money that stays in my pocket!!!
so ronald. but on a serious note - i thought gold was not allowed on footwear in the NBA - hence why kobe or lebron can't wear the home/away elites. that mvp badge looks gold to me.
First of all hater wilt didn't have a shoe.mike had his whole history on the tens..so what are you taking about..stop di** eating
"UNPRECEDENTED IN THIS ERA" WAS THE QUOTE. SO I'M GUESSING IT'S POST MJ ERA. ANYWAYS, LET'S GET THAT RING BRON BRON
i believe the gum sole isnt allowed on the hardwood. Iggy had a couple pair both with gum bottoms that he couldnt wear. this pair couldve been executed a little better. Keep it 100 the neon green sole destroys the shoe. Why not a icy sole with gold specs in it? this wack shyt will still be 500+ in a few weeks.
The Elites have alot of Gold accent on them so I'm pretty sure it's the amount of gold on the shoe. I highly doubt David Stern saw that tiny piece of gold accent on his shoe and said "Oh we have to fine Lebron".
He autographs and gives his shoes to selected children in the audience. He has been doing this for awhile now.
Because the earned his mvp title because of what he did during the regular season so nike choose to use the lbj 9 over the lbj 9 elite which was post season.
Actually wilt did have his own custom pair of converse chuck taylors, they jus werent available to da public like athletes shoes are now... thank dr j fa that & thank mj fa takin it to a whole new level
while I will give credit to the "era" reference, it doesn't matter when it happens. As Tinker Hatfield said, “When you (do) something, it can be anything, a car, a toaster, a house, a tall building or a shoe, (a multiple MVP award), what you (do) or what you (accomplish) is really a culmination of everything that you’ve seen and done in your life previous to that point.” to make things simple, do not diminish the accomplishments of the past just because they are in the past. with today's rules, foul calls, injuries, and lack of defensive talent, it makes it all the more impressive what Kareem, Russell, Jordan, Chamberlain, Moses, Bird, and Johnson did. (against each other). like I said, unprecedented means it hasn't happened before...what I failed to mention is, it's been done better. no hate though. I want to see LeBron win a championship like everyone else (that is a basketball fan). I just want to see it earned...
