Each of the Jordan Son of Mars colorways we’ve seen to this point have quickly come along with nicknames (however precise), and though the pair pictured above remains the sole exception to that rule, there are a couple of Jordan Brand story lines that could weave their threads into this palette. The mix of greys with soft blue and gold accents is the latest chapter in a tale begun when the ‘Cool Grey’ Air Jordan XI dropped in 2010. This immensely wearable palette is also easily connected to MJ’s days as a Washington Wizard or Carmelo Anthony’s first seven and a half years in Denver, or you could get really creative and see this as a visual bridge between Mike’s last season at UNC and his first Olympic gold medal at the 1984 LA Games. Any way you slice it, this is a versatile design that, paired with the Son of Mars’ early momentum, is shaping up to be one of the summer’s sleeper hits.
