Nike Air Yeezy 2 – Release On Schedule

Up until now, the Air Yeezy 2 has strictly been a ‘VIP’ only affair, with fellas by the names of Jay-Z, Shawn Pecas (one of Def Jam’s top dogs), and LeBron James being the very select group of people with the shoes on feet. The release of the Air Yeezy 2 has been subject to change possibly in response to the advanced camp-outs that were reported months before the rumored April 2012 release date, but confirmed data of a June drop later quieted the rumors of a complete cancellation of the much-hyped sneaker release. Since we provided you the info on a June release, not much more has been said regarding the shoe, but this latest update from Australian retailer Laced confirms that the Air Yeezy 2 ETA is right on schedule – June 9th, both colorways.
To get an idea of how limited they will be, the entire continent of Australia will receive sixty total pairs, and Laced will hold their own raffle to ensure a fair shot to those who attend their release party on the night of the release. We’ll keep you updated with more information regarding stateside release details, but keep in mind that June 9th is the target date for this summer blockbuster.

based on population i did some math and if australia gets 60 pairs then the u.s would get about 837... RIP sneaker game :(

Honestly, I would be interested in hearing Nike's actual logic on doing making releases like this. It's not like Kanye's just doing up a colorway, a ton of R&D has to be going down for a new shoe like this, at least $1,000s worth, if not $100,000s. Say it took just $100,000 to develop. Then you got about $2000 worth of samples for Kanye and his friends (basing this off the price of what it would take to actually make this shoe...about $50 I'm guessing, the typical shoe is ~$20-$30 for the jordans, etc). Then there's the marketing, which has to take at least $10,000 overall. So we're talking a shoe that could cost at least $112,000 to make, sample, test, and market. Honestly, it probably will cost more. We know there's going to have 60 pairs in Australia, so we can assume this release will be limited to some where around a thousand worldwide. We gotta then break down the shoe price, which is $250 afaik. At maybe $50 a piece for Nike, then might sell 'em for around $125 to the retailers, so Nike will likely make $75 on each shoe. Multiply that by a thousand, and Nike is making $75,000 off the shoes. But offset that by the development, etc costs, and Nike is losing money. I just don't get it. I'm not saying I want Yeezy's to be released more, less, etc. I honestly just want to know what kind of marketing genius Nike is coming up with. Cuz hell, look at the 'brons and Kobes. Those surely cost more to develop, but they gotta be making millions off those suckers with all the colorways and shit. Is it just about making Nike shoes a status thing? Are people really this dumb? :/
stay out of marketing...you're just throwing numbers out. info is released/leaked, and then we pretty much do all of the marketing for them. and the whole idea is to make them exclusive...nobody feels fly walking around in the same pair of shoe as everyone else.

Everyone is taking the allocation amount for Australia too literally. You guys need to realize that is the allocation amount for AUSTRALIA….NOT the USA. As Laced has stated, Australia will be getting 30 of each colorway. Australia’s allocation amount is, in no way shape or form, relative to the USA allocation amount. Smaller market countries like Canada (where I live), Euro countries, etc. would be taking into account the amount Australia received. You Americans are in the biggest market, no contest. Don’t be so narrow-minded as to think USA will only receive 30 pairs of each colorway.

A smart thing of nike would be to have the yeezy's like certain jordans....in between a limited and general release, stop the madness of things...it sucks much that way after the first release people still havnt gottent their hands on the Yeezy 1

Don't do that to yourself man. Just weather the early storm. Let the first few weeks - two months go by and the hype will die down a bit. Yes the hype will always be around for these shoes but you have to wait a bit. Look at what happened to the Galaxy Foams. $800 minimum asking price the next day and the coming weeks after it's initial realease. Then it died down with a few resellers selling @ $500-700, but then picked up again (this is where we are at now). You just have to pick the right time to pounce on them! But for the love of god, don't spend that $1k even if it's your max.
I don't know how Australia is on sneakers, but if this is a sign for things to come in the US, I expect nothing but bad things to happen.

What do you mean good? How is it good for the sneakers to be given out by chance? Yes some people have work and can't line up and the unemployed can just bum around camping in line-ups, but that's just how it is. The people who camp out at the mom and pops stores shouldn't be deprived of their chance to get the shoe, especially if they are one of the first 3/4/5 people in line.
because people take sneakers too seriously...and people have gotten shot... shit gets too crazy, people are dumb, this is the only fair way to do it i think. i've waited in lines that were so unorganized that it didn't matter who got there first, shit just got out of order no matter what
