Air Jordan XII ‘Obsidian’ – Available on eBay

Our recent ‘On the Fence’ look at the ‘Cool Grey’ Air Jordan 12 suggests Jordanheads are looking toward others from this insanely packed summer full of heat. Among those ‘distracting’ other drops is another of this summer’s AJXII Retros, but not just any old combination of colors. This is one that we’ve been waiting for over fifteen years to see in stores again, so don’t be surprised when the ‘Obsidian’ Air Jordan XII Retro is gone just as soon as it’s resurrected. This June 23rd release is indeed the spot-on OG reproduction we’ve been craving, although the metal eyelets aren’t so much ‘metal’, but a coated plastic. Click through for more shots, let us know where these rank on your list of summer sneaker shopping priorities and cop in over a month in advance from mmehanna on eBay.

“Always turn a negative situation into a positive situation.”  – Michael Jordan

Long-time Air Jordan devotee and contemporary artist Sergio Garcia presents ‘Heat’, a series of Air Jordan artwork printed with gunpowder. Inspired by one of Michael Jordan’s most profound quotes, Sergio embarked upon a unique collection of art bridging the Air Jordan collective and the modern art scene, using gunpowder to create these pop-art Warhol-styled pieces. Sergio points to the Air Jordan III as his favorite of all-time and even recalls the story of his first pair, but this Air Jordan ‘Heat’ is complete with other models like the Air Jordan II, VI, and much more. Check out the gallery below as well as a great video detailing Garcia’s concept and click here to purchase one of the pieces!

Classics Revisited: HUF x Nike Air Max 1 (2004)

air max 1 huf 2004 hyperstrike Classics Revisited: HUF x Nike Air Max 1 (2004)

The label HUF is one that you’ve probably heard of – not just from sneaker circles, but among the most well-known skate/streetwear brands of the last generation. NYC-native Keith Hufnagel opened up HUF’s doors in August 2002 and has gone on to become one of the icons of the ‘collaboration’, working frequently with Nike on various footwear classics like the skate-equipped Dunk High and Air Trainer 1 as well as a few other Air Maxes while coining the term ‘Hufquake’ in the process. The debut of the HUF x Nike partnership was this memorable Air Max 1, which featured a Grey/Green colorway and Black/Green laces; the version you see here is a Hyperstrike/Friends & Family version with just 24 pairs in circulation, and featured a number of distinguishing features from the released version with the stitched San Franciscan skyline, the perforated leather toe-box, and the custom baseball-inspired insole.

Aside from the rare Hyperstrike version were a few scrapped samples that featured the same color-blocking, but with orange and pink instead of the Dark Apple green seen here – both of which continue to circulate and turn heads whenever they surface. HUF continues to be a mainstay in the apparel and footwear game with its original product line and ongoing collaborations with a slew of other footwear labels, so revisiting one of the earliest stateside Air Max 1 collaborations was certainly a no-brainer on our part. Continue reading for a detailed gallery of the HUF x Nike Air Max 1 and stay tuned to Sneaker News because we’ve got more AM1 goodies headed your way in Classics Revisited!

Spaced out basketball sneakers are cool and all but artist Tom Sachs has taken the idea of out of this world Swoosh products to the next level, leverage his NASA obsessed aesthetic to create the NikeCRAFT collection. The quick capsule looks at Nike gear through the functional lens of astronautical wear, outfitting jackets, bags, and least of all the hybrid Mars Yard sneaker. The project launched in NYC yesterday at Sachs’ Space Program: MARS exhibition, taking place in the massive Park Avenue Armory which was transformed into an eerie portrait of the artist’s space age fantasies. Stay with us after the jump for the full photo recap of this unique team up between Tom Sachs and Nike, and be sure to check out the exhibit at the Park Avenue Armory if you’re in NYC.

The Dream Team will celebrate 20 years this Fall 2012 season, so get ready for Nike’s tribute to the most treasured U.S. Olympic team of all-time! With a concentration on footwear, Nike Sportswear will bring back a set of Olympic-inspired sneakers that were worn during the Games, like the Air Force 180 worn by Sir Charles Barkley. These have been re-issued a few times before (as well in the Auto Force 180 form in 2009), but it’s time for a fresh new stock because new pairs are dwindling by the number. You won’t have to wait too long though, because European retailers are reporting stock to arrive on July 2nd, and you can expect a similar ETA for U.S. stocklists (but we’ll keep you updated on a firm release when it becomes available). With so many Olympic-themed kicks on the way, where does this Air Force 180 classic rank on your list of must-haves for the season? Photos: overkillshop

Sneaker News just showed you a raging red colorway that’s coming up soon and now here comes the other Nike Zoom Solider 6 colorup we’d previewed in Monday’s first look. The Zoom Soldier VI looks so good in this combination of silver, black and blue that, judging by the earliest comments, might have those traditionally inclined to the Nike LeBron flagship series, to consider adding these to your rotation as well. They’ve got performance advantages from a Hyperfuse upper, Zoom Air-cushioned sole and the Soldier series’ signature robust ankle lockdown system, and you can see more details when you click on the jump below. Nike Air Yeezy 2 ‘Solar Red’ – On-Feet

Updates regarding the Air Yeezy 2 release always seem to report a change, but just yesterday, Sneaker News provided you with a simple reminder that Air Yeezy 2 launch is still on schedule for June 9th in Australia. Production numbers are very limited (the entire continent of Australia is getting just 60 pairs total) so you can guess just how crazy the release will be (Nike’s nixing of camp-outs and midnight releases should definitely soothe the tension). While we’ve yet to see detailed images of the Black/Solar Red colorway straight from Nike, these continue to be spotted on the feet of some of Kanye’s and Nike’s VVIP (the extra V is intended); here we get a close-up On-Feet look at the Black/Solar Red joints from Jerry Lorenzo and you can clearly see the amount of detail that was packed into this sensitive project. More shots below, so take a look and stay tuned for more updates on the Air Yeezy 2.
