During an extended inset chat with Lisa Salters that to everyone outside of the Boston area was likely the most emotionally engaging aspect of what has been to this point the less interesting Eastern Conference semifinal, 76ers legend Allen Iverson struggled to convey the importance of his connection to Philadelphia’s fans. AI avoided directly contradicting Kevin Garnett’s ‘fairweather’ comment and stuck to the facts, confessing that he nearly teared up while walking wobbly legged off the court after presenting the game ball in Wednesday night’s Sixers win. It’s difficult to put into words just how much of a difference the distance north on I-95 made in his life, but there is indeed an iconic sneaker synonymous with Iverson‘s memorable first season.
A good portion of rookie AI’s first campaign was played in this red-toed colorway of the Reebok Question, a sneaker that’s been around the block and back again, issued in a variety of retro and team-oriented renditions in the sixteen years since its debut. We got a similar drop back in 2009, but pearly toed pairs Iverson and Swizz Beatz have recently been spotted rocking are truer OGs than those suede-tipped joints. The timing of the May 25th release of one of the greatest non-Nike/Jordan basketball signatures now seems utterly magical with AI’s presence boosting the 76ers to a seventh and deciding game in Beantown the following day; let us know your plans to cop along with your take on which is more likely: a Philly win or an Iverson NBA comeback? hes dressed like a teenage boy. not a good look for a grown man. but then again, he never acted like a grown man. "practice?!" he was a physically giftedn n talented player for sure. one of the best ever in that respect. but he sucked as far as a leader, a team player, and a winner. he's a great 1 on 1 player. prob one of the best ever. too bad for him basketball is a team sport.
Still gives me chills when i see the video of him walkin on to the basketball court. One of BEST to ever do it in his position...crossover was too serious. I miss AI...my Knicks might need him lol
76ers fan or not, seeing AI on the court before the Philly game had to give you a sense of happiness!
I still have my red suede toes in the box. Only worn a few times. Going to break them out this summer while everyone else is rocking the shiny ones. Get my old man on..... LOL.. YA DIG!?
On a side note, anyone notice that Iverson, signed to reebok, is wearing a Adidas jersey??? Hmmmmmm???
He deserves a proper retirement, probably could have helped the lakers bench. Otherwise reebok is paying $6Million a year just rock em so he would probably come cheap. I do want some AI for my collection.
In 02', that was the hottest shoe, to date as a matter of fact reebok hasn't had a hotter shoe....plus his sneaker was a great shoe to play in....
Not the biggest A.I. fan. I have my reasons, maily him being an asshole in person. But I do respect his game. But I wish bad on no man, hope he can get back on his feet
Greatest lil man to ever play the game. Mad respect although people still talk down on him. He changed the game and culture. Kids weren't rocking braids until they saw AI, tattoos weren't cool to have until AI. I hope he finds his way back into the league
so because its 2012 he should be a follower like you and dress different. FOH he dresses how he likes not because fashion has changed
hellyea.... he got his own style n swag and hes original and stayed original. pure respect for A.I
AI was a beast, one of my favorites. Copped the questions on pre order from Packer shoes, go check them out they got a count down goin for the release.
I agree ... His jeans are terrible! ... You don't have to wear skin tight jeans, but you also don't have to be baggy & sloppy ... MEN wear their clothes in the proper, fitting size ... Why wear jeans that are made for a fat man? ... C'mon son ... Step it up AI! ... & you clowns that dress like this are outdated turds!
I knew there would be one of you fags on here. Wear your tight ass girl jeans and let a real dude do him.
Are u serious. He is dressing like a man should not little ass boys! I'm nineteen and don't even wear skinnys. I wear what I like and that's what he is doing so focus on the real reason this was posted not your stupid ass fashion opinion!
SETTLE DOWN LET ME GUESS U THOUGHT HE WOULD BE WEARIN SKINNY JEANS. NAHHHH IVERSON DON'T ROLL LIKE DAT DO UR HISTORY ON HIM SKINNY JEANS R ONLY FOR FAGS LIKE U!
One of the greatest players to do it and all you can focus on is his jeans? Dude was an icon and so was his shoes. Man I miss seeing this dude break ankles on the court.
I miss him so much. My fav player, I know hes nothin to wat he used to be. But id like to atleast see him finsih his career in the NBA!
Iverson was a great player. NOBODY cared about his shoes where I lived. Ewings either. Karl Malones either.
