The US customs office considers items ‘antique’ once they’re more than 100 years old, but why wait a century when you can run fast enough to get there in a quarter as much time? The Nike Air Max 1 celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, and while many fans of Tinker Hatfield’s 1987 visible Air debut have been speculating about OG red and blue colorways, few would have expected them to show up in this form. The first ever Vintage Air Max 1s bring their anachronistic unfinished tongues along on four colorways including two that are clearly inspired by the aforementioned originals. The ‘Sport Red’ look stands out with a pink midsole instead of the typical pre-yellowing, perhaps a hint that the Nike Sportswear VNTG series has reached a point in the Beaverton timeline where true legend OGs began to define their era of origin instead of just slipping into antiquity.
