Nike’s Flywire technology has wowed us in a variety of applications since its debut four years ago, but would it be shocking to learn that even this marvel of modern engineering might take the backseat to more traditional constructions in certain applications? Casual designs are the most obvious examples, but what about when you’re looking to recreate the light and airy feel of running barefoot? It turns out nylon ribbons can outperform Kevlar strands in select circumstances, one of which is manifested in the Nike Free Powerlines+. A minimalist running shoe whose eyelets are formed by the peaks of sequentially arranged triangular frames, the Powerlines+ applies the same principles utilized in Flywire designs in a way that meshes better with the two-toned base layer. This earthy pair can be seen up close after the jump below, and you can pre-order a pair in advance of the July release from Titolo.
