While many of Ronnie Fieg’s sneaker collaborations have been simple colorways on proven sneaker models, he merely uses that as a platform to display his distinct selection process of materials. His unique taste in materials, as seen in the premium nubuck, pigskin suede, and smooth leather for this “Steel Blue” triple-9, is what truly is the takeaway highlight of his personal design process, and with this Friday’s looming release of his New Balance 999, Ronnie Fieg and Kith will hit a lucky group of customers with the special edition box set, featuring the shoes and the Kith x New Balance apparel, which includes hoodies, crewnecks, sweat shorts, and sweatpants. Each hand-made piece (in NYC nonetheless) features Kith x NB branding, leather tagging, and drawstring tightening (on the pants items). 100 handmade wooden boxes will also be released, containing the shoes, the hoodie, and the sweat shorts (50 units per Kith retail spot in Manhattan and Brooklyn).
