Converse got its start one hundred-four and a half years ago, and thanks to their timing, the designs for which they’re best known now serve as standards around which much of modern athletic footwear is based.  Plenty of brands have created their own versions, but there’s still nothing like a fresh pair of Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars or Jack Purcells anywhere else in the industry.  And now that the Converse ♥ Marimekko collection has become as much a regular as John Varvatos’ vintage stylings, not only do you get the genuine article of classic American style, but the designs are pushed over the edge by today’s most creative fashion minds.  Click through to see these as well as the Premium Boot selections and stick with Sneaker News for updates as this fall 2012 capsule is arriving at retailers as we speak.

So Nike owns converse right, why is it that converse gets real premium materials and Nike/JB still use synthetic crap?

It's because Nike uses the latest technology, and most Converse stuff doesn't. Converse's products are cheaper to begin with, so building them with better materials still costs less than it would with many Nike shoes.
