LOOK/SEE Sneaker-Inspired Eyewear

Looksee Summary

It’s true that greatness tends to shadow those who have already made their profound marks in society on any scale; whether it be in a prominent industry or in your local community, greatness is an instant process that begins with one step forward. Over the last few years, Nike Basketball has risen far above being the undisputed champion of performance footwear into the driving force of the sneaker game; signature models like the LeBron, Kobe, and Zoom KD and in-line models like the Hyperdunk have absolutely dominated the scene largely in part due to the neck-breakers and energetic releases and Player Exclusives. One individual responsible for this renaissance is former Nike employee Kyle Yamaguchi, who brings his sublime touch of design and detail to his latest endeavor – LOOK/SEE.

LOOK/SEE brings unparalleled style and swagger to eyewear using a variety of sneaker-centric graphics like elephant print from the Air Jordan III, cement print from the Air Jordan IV, and Safari print from the 1987 original (the shades are housed in a shoebox-style package as well). One of Kyle’s proudest works is the LOOK/SEE Reflective collection, a call-out to his penchant for using Reflective material on his PE and Special Edition designs; thanks to durable Halo Coatings reflective layer, the Reflective Collection boasts a visual pop on the main frame of the glasses. For the launch of the LOOK/SEE brand, Kyle’s friend Michael K. Williams of The Wire fame models the Triple-Black colorway of the LOOK/SEE Shades, so take a look at the official photo-shoot with Michael as well as some of the intriguing pieces from LOOK/SEE below.

For over 5 years, I had one of the coolest jobs you could imagine.  Essentially, I helped create some of the hottest basketball sneakers for the biggest brand in the game, Nike. Whether it was creating limited edition product for LeBron, Kobe, Kevin Durant, or any of their inline models, I worked closely with the designers to develop some of the most sought-after and exclusive sneakers released by Nike Basketball.

In 2008 I met my wife, Shu-Chu (an optician), and we decided to launch our own eyewear brand, 141. Since 2010, 141 has grown into a profitable business which has allowed me the opportunity to leave Nike and take on the challenge of being a full time entrepreneur.

My experience at Nike and the success of 141 enabled me to realize that I could create something unique and special. With that, LOOK/SEE was born. LOOK/SEE is a product of my professional experience coupled with my passion for bringing fun and energetic stories to life through the creation of beautiful product.

I had one of the coolest jobs you could imagine. You could say it was a dream job. Now I’ve left that dream job and built on that experience to pursue a dream of my own…that’s what LOOK/SEE is all about.
