Day Three of Classics Revisited: Nike Blazer focuses on a sublime trifecta of Blazers designed by a Kyle Demers, Chris Keeffe, and Dave Ortiz – the trio of figureheads that make up the bulk of DQM’s front lines. In 2008, Nike teamed up with the Lower East Side skate shop for the Blazer (a shoe that DQM never got to play around with), and the two sides immediately went to work; a visit to the Nike Design Library at the World Headquarters in Beaverton, OR resulted in a quick identification of materials – safari print of the late 80’s and premium suede. For the final designs, DQM split into two teams – one with Demers and NSW’s Jesse Leyva and the other with Ortiz and Keefe, working with Al Baik – and out came three sick colorways of Grey Violet, Black, and Medium Grey (they could not settle on just one, but who’s complaining). All three colorways were released in consecutive months, beginning with May 3rd for the Violet, June 7th for Black, and July 12th for the third and final Grey. In addition, DQM also designed and released matching t-shirts and safari-print skatedecks to match the trio of Blazers. Do any of the three Blazers sit in your sneaker closet right now? If they do, break ’em out now that we’ve refreshed your memory, and stay tuned for another classic Nike Blazer feature tomorrow.
