Nike Air Max 1 VNTG – Dark Obsidian – Neutral Grey
October 8th, 2012 by Aaron Hope | 2 comments

Word of upcoming VNTG-treated Air Max 1s first broke in late summer, when the time-tested ‘Sport Red’ colorup came onto the scene rocking that familiar pre-yellowed look. We got another look shortly after and things quieted down for a bit as we forged ahead with the holiday season offerings, but last week’s revelation of a ‘forgotten’ OG colorup again has sneakerheads talking about the Eighty-Seven in year twenty-six. The Nike Air Max 1 VNTG resurrects the original navy/red edition we’ve only seen hinted at with the ‘USA’ joints over a decade ago, and in these latest shots, it appears Nike Sportswear has nailed the midsole aging process so thoroughly, these really do look like they’ve been locked in storage for a quarter-century (albeit with less crumbling). Stick with Sneaker News for release info on this SU13 drop and check out some new images below in the meantime.

Nicest pair of Air Max I've seen in a loooooong time
While I'm glad Nike toned the VNTG midsole thing down on these; if they're going to do a first time retro, put it out clean. Still, gonna have to cop.
