It arrives on store shelves these days with all manner of prefixes and suffixes, special materials and eye-catching patterns, but all of that is possible because the Vans Authentic is at its heart such a simple design. This classic plimsoll was the Van Doren brothers’ original Waffle Sole release, a lowtop deck shoe whose familiar lines have inspired a thousand plimsolls since its 1966 debut. This latest effort goes with the monotone look that’s more common in canvas than the above pictured peacoat navy suede, and adds a premium touch via leather piping. If you’re liking what you see, you can find this colorway now at retailers like Premier.
