A few preview photos with blindingly intense lighting have made some wonder if the latest ‘Fire Red’ Air Jordan 5 Retro might be done in white patent leather, but these latest images prove that’s a distinction that’ll remain solely with 2009′s ‘Dark Army’ and last year’s ‘Midnight Navy’. If anything, these Fire Red Fives get closer to their roots than when released in the ’08 CDP, as the ’23′ embroidery is eschewed in favor of a classically clean build like all those originals strewn across Mars Blackmon’s bedroom twenty-three years ago. Stick with Sneaker News as we approach the late January release date and check out a bunch of new images below in the meantime.
Air Jordan V
still on the fence with these considering JB is dropping a gang of retros early next year..college student problems..
Its only october shoes drop in january, ppl should stop assuming whether were getting special boxes or not until that time. Lilmr81 these black boxes will be used for the next 5 years or so like any other standard jordan box you should kno that by now unless you dont collect jordans like that
There probably will be a special box since its the year of the 5s in 2013 and this yr and last year we got og boxes for the 3s and 4s
@Dixon Syder sorry but do you mind not signing big dix after all your comments. at first it was funny but now it's just gayyyy
@hozezae actually if you read what I said that was exactly my point. As far as collecting your right! I'm a 31 yr old man who just heard about this guy Michael Jordan, and these cool shoes all the kids were buying. Come on dude my point is NIKE is getting CHEAPER by the day.
@BoricuaSole don't get your hopes up. Nike likes making money, so if they have a special box we as customers will pay for it. My guess is we will see the black box being used this year till they run out. Then they will start using a new design. You gotta think Nike is buying thousands of these boxes in bulk. Judging from these photos this pair came in the black box with the white jumpman.
@Lilmr81 You make it sound like JB JUST started making money? They were using the black & grey box for years and still managed to bring out the retro box for both the 3's and 4's 23rd anniversary. I'm not putting it past JB to cheapskate out on those next year, but the manufacturing cost of the boxes is practically nothing, and the pre-releases (aka shady b-grades) that were popping up for the 3's & 4's all came with the standard black & grey.
@ac2slater @hozezae yeah 31 as in I was alive and wearing these shoes when they first came out. 31 as in you don't need to worry about my financials because I'm a big boy and pay my bills on time. 31 as in I make the kind of money to pay cash for new cars. 31 as in if I needed your smart ass mouth I'd have my own damn kids annoying me.
@xd_mitchx you're absolutely right about the box for the 3s and 4s. As far as jb making money? Yeah it's real apparent lately how cheap they're getting with they're shoes. At this point Stevie Wonder could see it. So maybe I'm just a little disappointed in my favorite sneaker line.
