The 2010s will go down as the decade when sneaker manufacturers finally realized that our most precious grails have no business interacting with winter weather beyond a ride on the UPS truck, and have launched into earnest trail and boot production each winter. The latest addition to the new wave of sneaker boots is the adidas Originals Winter Star, an ’80s basketball throwback complete with Dellinger webbing whose water-resistant upper, D-ring-ish eyelets and PrimaLoft sockliner are a far cry from the original Conductor or Metro Attitude.
