adidas Top Ten 2000 “Blackout”
November 2nd, 2012 by John K. | 9 comments

After a couple of colorways reminiscent of but not directly tied to familiar basketball aesthetics plus a couple more pairs with clear connections to the NBA’s two most popular teams by metro area, the adidas Top Ten 2000 has some serious momentum. Here comes another new colorway we’ve come to expect from the majority of popular b-ball kicks these days, as the Feet You Wear podular design takes on a blackout look at the start of a new season. Have a closer look at these so you can let us know which ones have been the best of 2012 and grab yours straight from adidas.

The Top Ten 2000 an amazing shoe, its very light & comfortable. Its gives me a break from Nike, plus I love the style. They turn heads when I wear them, but ppl sleep on them I don't mind more for me. These Blackout are real ill
Definitely dig these. I have a question for the experts out there:
Does anyone know which Adidas model Kobe wore before they gave him the KB8 (Crazy 8 as it is known these days). I recall him wearing a model similar to, but not exactly the same design as the Crazy 8 with the FYW sole, but it had a wire lacing support system integrated into the ankle. It wasn't the EQT Elevation, but it might have been an EQT shoe.
My little brother had a pair of these back in the day and we were both trying to find evidence of their existence, with no success. Looking for pics of Kobe on Google from 1996 yields nothing either. Any help on these would be greatly appreciated.
@baby gerald Are you talking about these? Adidas Top Ten 2010

@Jason4523 Tthanks for the reply, Jason, but alas, those aren't the ones.
I could swear that in profile they looked almost exactly like the KB8, but they didn't have an 8 on the forward part of the tongue, and instead of the usual ankle lace strap that crosses behind the heel, they had a wire setup. They used the Feet You Wear soles, and they must have come out around 1995 because the KB8s came along to replace them in 1996. I'm pretty sure they came in a mostly black with white stripes colorway. I've scoured Google images without any success. I've looked for Kobe's footwear history, but the sites I've seen have nothing between the EQT Elevations and the KB8. I think I might need to check the library's Sports Illustrated back issue collection to see what I can find. He got them in upstate NY at a store called Klein's Sporting Goods which I'm pretty sure is long extinct.
Also, fwiw, they came out around the same time or just after adidas was doing those Equipment shoes with the removable green sockliners.
@Jason4523 For some reason that @sign causes all kinds of chaos with that link above. You need to cut and paste the whole thing to view the page.

@Jason4523 After more searching, I found these dating back to 1994:

They have that wire lacing setup, but I could swear they had the FYW sole.
I'll check with my bro to see if they ring any bells.
These are nice
