Were you around back in 1987? Were you old enough to be flipping through a sports magazine of some kind? If so then these should feel familiar. If not then buckle in for a look back at some of the OG print ads that helped catapult such silos as the Nike Air Max 1 and the Nike Air Trainer 1 to the top of the heap in terms of revered Swoosh designs. The pages pulled go from the pictures-do-the-talking type to long winded tech-heavy explanations as to why these pieces of footwear deserved your cash. Click through with us for some classic Nike ad spots from 1987 and check out the full feature at Crooked Tongues.
I submit that the best year for Nike was 1991.
Air Max 1991 (now known as Air Max BW or Air Max Classic)
Air 180 (now known as Air Max 180)
Air Structure (now known as Air Structure Triax 1 but the Triax name came several years later)
Air Span 2
Air Jordan 6
Air Force 5
Air Command Force
Air Ultra Force
Air Flight Light
Air Trainer SC
Air Trainer TW Lite
Air Cross Trainer
Air Trainer Max
Air Trainer E
Air Tech Challenge 3
To me the Golden Age of Nike design was from 1985-1994 & those are the only shoes I rock as far as Nike Basketball shoes, trainers, & running shoes. I hate the designs from the mid & late 90's. Just my opinion.
If you love vintage, then you'll love these Roundhouse Originals from Adidas, remakes for the 80s. http://refer.ly/aaT4
