With last Friday’s release of the Air Jordan XI ‘Bred’ marking the fourth overall release of the shoe, it seems like an appropriate time to look back at an original pair – the same joints MJ wore while leading the Bulls to an unparalleled 72-10 record and 4th NBA Championship. If you notice, these XIs didn’t require a special box, but a simple black/red Nike box of that era. Another tidbit of info regarding the Bred XI is that Japan got a separate release of these, which came with slightly altered serial numbers on the tag as well as a black tissue paper. The asking price for this vintage gem is rather fair, so peep the gallery below and head to the listing from f211s on eBay.
Is it just me or does the Jumpman logo look a little anorexic? I'm NOT saying that they're fake or not (even IF they're not that logo looks terrible) I'm just saying that it looks horrible and wouldn't pay that kind of money just because they are OG.
Patent leather on the OG's are like thick cuts of bacon on Sunday morning! New joint are like bacon you get on a mcgriddle. The OG's were so much heavier and had way more support. New joint will role your ankle if your balling!
And if ppl pay attention to these pics they will see even OG's have.flaws like the uneven patent leather cut one is higher than the other, the toecap is exactly like the newer retros that ppl bitch about and as in that same pic the left shoe looks like its bulit in an angle. Still hot but these are no better then anyone who copped the the 2012's. My leather cut is just a little lower than those and minus the nike air on the insole.
@Luchi Carillo like u said heavier, who wants to ball in heavy shoes. All shoes are lightweight now, and as u see everybody wheres retros on the court or any other shoe like kobes & lebrons. Players wanted lighter shoes to be quicker and faster, u cant get that in heavy shoes. I dont kno if its.u but I dont kno anyone who hurt they self in new 11's
Not quite, the patent leather on these are nothing compared to the 2012's and 2001's. The patent leather was thicker on the OG's. Also the the translucent sole bottom is way more of a red colorway in the 1996 OG's, " True Red ". Not to mention the 2001 Retro is " Varsity Red " as well as the 2012 Retro and the 2008 CDP's. I do have to agree with you on one thing though, not even the OG's were perfect, they had flaws too.
@hozezae it's just a testament to to quality between the 2. Obvi nobody gonna ball in a "crisp" pair of og's but I used all mine for ball from when I was in my teens to 20's so I'm imagining what balling in these would be like bc eventually they all make it to the court in my house.
@MMG9piece yes a lil thicker thats all but its not a deal breaker. Yes the red pops a lil more as well but other than that if u have any of the retros u aint losing. If anything I perfer my 2012's over any, OG's are to old, 01's are starting to seperate depending on the condition so tnat just leave the 08's & 2012. I love my 11's but it comes a time even where I gotta let the OG's go
@Dipset27 i feel you but dudes would pay 500+ for the new but wont pay this somewhat decent price for some classics? Idk i feel theres alot of irony in some buyers. If this was in my size and had the bread i would def buy these.
@Luchi Carillo exactly bcuz shoes are meant to be worn. I cant letba shoe sit and years go back without me putting my feet in them, give or take a year or so I can see not 16 years. This shoe might explode in one trip, if the 01's are already seperating I can imgaine these, therefore if I brought these im definitely rocking them
