Air Jordan III Retro ’88 Retail Price
One of the major developments in the sneaker world this season was the confirmed return of the Air Jordan III with ‘Nike Air’ on the heel. Considering the White/Cements last saw the light of day in this form back in 1994, the reaction to this news was, for the most part, positive. However, this latest bit of information might be a thorn on the side, as the retail price for the Air Jordan III with Nike Air will be set at $200 – a whopping $40 jump from the MSRP of the 2011 Retro version. Well, Air Jordan fans, you got what you asked for. But is it worth the price? Let’s get the conversation rolling in the Comments area below.
Air Jordan 3 Retro ’88
White/Fire Red-Cement Grey-Black
If you don't think the jumpman looks out of place, awkward, even cheap on the back of all the early J's, then you just don't know the difference. Not your fault, it's a generational thing. To 30-somethings who actually remember what the early J's looked like with the Nike Air logo on the back, we'll pay $200 for the shoe to look right. And it's not just a "branding" thing, although the quality of these shoes did go to crap with the emergence of JB, the jumpman just looks out of place back there. There's too much empty space with the jumpman on the back, and that looks cheap to me. Just wait until you see more and more of the Nike Air logo on these shoes and I guarantee you will know what I'm talking about.
@MTHASHP im 30 something... I remember. I just grew up and value the extra $40 to spend on better things. Its a personal opinion obviously but i dont find the value cause im nit a hardcore collector who hads to buy 99% of retros.
@LouieColon Haven't bought a pair in over a decade, so I'm not a "hardcore collector who hads to buy 99% of retros." I grew up, too, that's largely why the $40 ain't killing me. And I'd gladly pay even more for better quality, too. Sucks you kept buying garbage for $160, I guess.
To those who are born after 1988 will NEVER understand what these shoes meant.. This is what we remembered them as. You sissy ass complaining bitches can stick to your shitty ass 2003/2011 white cement 3's.. End of debate!
I can afford them, I certainly can, but to blow my hard earned money for "NIKE" on the back is just silly. I have the 2001 and 2011 retros with "Jumpman logo AIR" on the back, and I can live with that... :)
Why is everyone complaining about the price so much? Either you want it or you don't, opportunity cost, etc. I'm 32, had a bunch of J's when I was a kid and a few retros in the 90's, and now I'm finally going to get another pair . . . you know why? Because it has the correct logo on the back. That jumpman on the back has killed it for me for years, looks cheap. This is awesome, keep bringing it!
@MTHASHP you know you are retared dont you? its the same damn shoe. its like having in your pc saying Hewlett Packard instead of HP.
@NickBartzis You think it's the "same damn shoe" because you've been buying that retarded jumpman crap for so long. I stopped over a decade ago, because I'm not retarded. Sorry bro, in my mind you got cheap knock-offs.
@MTHASHP you say the jumpman logo looks cheap but its used as the symbol of top shelf prestigious basketball shoes go sit yo old ass down sumwhere
@LouieColon c'mon son you know you gonna buy em!.. Quit lying!!.. You must be born in 1998?? I understand why most stupid ass sneakerheads most of y'all are teenagers/early 20's wouldn't wanna spend an extra $40 of hard earned chump change for the same shoe that dropped in 03 & 11 cuz you fuckers don't appreciate the 3's 4's 5's & 6's in its true form(ish). Y'all still in nut sacks to know shit. And besides y'all make shitty change and can barely afford mc Donald's unless y'all ask for mommy's credit card. Just save your money for Lebrons Kobes KD etc. and get the fuck out. Fuckin hate y'all young ass tight jeans wearing sissy boys trying to dress like y'all from the 90's.
@inTheNameofQuen @MTHASHP Oh god spare me the hard ons for the Nike Air Logo... an extra $40 for a nike air logo... seriously? This is why the sneaker game is screwed up... cause people get way too hyped over this crap... you cant even see the nike air logo unless u rocking shorts or a pair of tight high jeans... cmon... to say that bringing back the nike air logo is sign in the right direction is naive.. Nike just knows that these cornball sneaker heads will dish out more money for the same quality shoe theyve retroed twice...
@inTheNameofQuen you can bet I went to school way too long to let that one happen, it's all good. Bring on the 4's!!!
@MTHASHP I saw his last 3 championships but u og heads think that means sumthn yo wife probably don't even let u buy jordans so u wont be getting these either
@inTheNameofQuen Why do you insist on taking some kind of moral high ground regarding the quality of these shoes, especially when I'm the one who actually knows what the quality is supposed to be like? I agree, the quality sucks, the step in the right direction is the fact that they have the ORIGINAL Nike Air logo on the back. I grew up watching Jordan, but dude GTFOHN, the jumpman is out of place back there.
@MTHASHP I like the 3 had 2 pairs n 11 and the man in the logo is the man that played in the shoe I actually like the fact that the shoes got so big he could go away from the nike air branding no other athlete will do that and wen your performance is walking and they cant even hold up to that what does that say about being a step in the right direction especially now that there's a $200 price tag on these
@inTheNameofQuen Why would I care if MJ cares about my shoes, and wtf does that even have to do with the back logo? Focus. Apparently you just don't like the 3's. That's cool. I do, and I happen to think they look ten thousand times better with the Nike Air logo on the back. We can all agree the quality is horribly lacking, but they don't need to be "performance" shoes. This is a step in the right direction, regardless of price.
@MTHASHP wtf an og got to do with anything I'm sure mj doesn't care about your ogs u ain't putting money in his pockets in 2013 w/ your ogs I care abour wearing shoes that's wat I do I buy n wear what I like I didnt like these in 11 so the nike air doesn't change my opinion about them and the top shelf prestigious shoes I was talking about was those ogs u were referring to at the time they were the best basketball shoe nike had to offer nowadays they arent and are made even cheaper because they are not meant to be a performance shoe so a $200 price tag isnt worth the $50 more they were charging 2 yrs ago
@inTheNameofQuen @MTHASHP Yeah, the jumpman logo on the back looks cheap. The Nike Air logo is more balanced/centered on the back, aesthetically pleasing, easy on the eye. I remember wearing J's out to the bone, dissecting 'em, pulling the tubes out, etc., and that fatty Nike Air logo on the back was always one of the coolest looking parts of all those early J's, especially moving around the court, to me at least. The jumpman logo doesn't even fit properly back there, most of you are just butthurt because you got the 2011's, now this is out. Now if we just could get the quality back, too . . .
You all know that the NIKE AIR treatment is making a huge comeback right? This is just the beginning.. I'm pretty sure the black cement 3's gonna make a return with Nike air along with the 4's 5's 6's etc.. And watch everyone be on this shit!
It's called supply and demand. Sneakerheads have been wanting the Nike Air and you finally got it for an extra $40. To each his own. Im not copping. If you got the money and you really like the shoe then go for it but im fine with the one's i got without the nike air.
Hypebeasts and idiots who think the "Nike Air" makes any difference can go ahead and drop 200 on this trash. I would rather drop 250-300 on something really dope on Ebay or get some Foams. Ill be focused on the He Got Games, you can have this trash
They're going to sell out regardless. I love the 3's like everyone else, but I'm undecided. I'd much rather have some paint on the midsole that doesn't crack but we all could complain about something right?
@CHVCKNORRIS - Speak for yourself. I will NEVER pay over retail for a pair of shoes. Nor will I ever pay $200 retail for a pair of Jordan retros when there are other colorways of the same coming out in the same year for $40 less.
@StephenDensmore cuz you simply can't afford em son. And I am speaking for myself & don't give a fuck what anyone else thinks. I was around and alive and OWNED an original pair back then and simply love this shoe so price is nothing to me. Sick of wannabe new jack "sneakerheads" y'all need to go somewhere and collect stamps..
@StephenDensmore I was born in 77 and also make enough money to afford these and I simply appreciate these. Again consumer rule.. You don't like you don't buy. BTW I wasn't referring to you being a wannabe sneakerhead but as a general statement homie. These are gonna sell out no matter how many will complain & bitch. Gimmie 3 pairs of these & I'm good. Price ain't shit to me.
@CHVCKNORRIS - I make more than enough money to afford these. I was born in '81, and I'm not some wannabe "sneakerhead". I'm just not a sucker-ass bitch who will bend over backwards, and get fucked by Jordan Brand simply to have a poorly made retro that has "Nike Air" on the heel tab.
Regardless what anyone says, like it's probably been said within these 366 comments, there's gonna be a stacked line and regardless of what any of our devoted selves say, they're still gonna read $200 and will still sell out... cold hard truth
Like on a serious note, I don't appriciate how JB would pull a cold move like this by increasing the price $40 like they expect everyone to pay for the "Nike Air" spinoff like the shoes are really worth what we are paying for when they are really not the OG's
40 just so my shoe can say Nike Air on the heel, I'm cool with the 2011 retro release, jordan don't know what else to come out with not to mention the quality had been so shity but as long as people keep buying the product there's no need to better the quality... kobe's and Labrons is the way to go if you want quality. ..
Even if they have a fucking NIKE AIR on the back, we all know they are not OG, they are retros.. If you buy them just becaus the logo. You a stupid fuck boy. Period. Die.
@YoungMario2012 nah we just appreciate the true rendition of the Air Jordan 3.. I'm 35 years old I had the originals in 1988 and the 1994 versions.. JB should've NEVER got rid of the NIKE A I R to begin with. Consumer rule you don't like you don't buy plain & simple..All you new jack cheap fuck boys complain about price yet pay for a pair of gay ass pink foamposites for $200 retail.. Leave this shoe for the elite true enthusiasts.. Not for the boy toy fuck boy hypebeasts.
@CHVCKNORRIS haha oh shit, we got a bad ass over here. Calm down fuck boy, first of all. Fuck foams. I don't fuck with those ugly shit looking kicks. Money it aint a fucking issue on my part, if you read my original comment you will see i never spoke about "money". So why don't your "elite true enthusiast" stfu.
@CHVCKNORRIS my moms don't got a basement. You can go to my neighbor and suck a dick bitch, why are you still talking on here? Aren't you like 30. Go to work. Lol
@CHVCKNORRIS sketchers is what you will be wearing if your stupid ass keeps blowing money for shoes that aren't worth it price tag.. Fuck ass nigga. You got no point. Now go back to your mommas basement. lol lame ass
@Kervens89 I'm buying it.. Point blank.. I still have my 1994 white cements 3's and ya know what JB is planning on doing right?? And I've seen samples.. 4's 5's & 6's getting the Nike Air treatment.. Oo
@CHVCKNORRIS yall can spend the rest of your lives on here arguing about this crap , its simple if you buying it cuz you like it just buy it but if you think the materials are going to be superior or its worth 200 bucks honestly I think its a waste
@StephenDensmore bro we can go all night back & forth.. My point is I love the 3's especially when they have Nike Air logo. That's how I remembered them. They're dope that's why they're iconic. Stop being bitter. Again just don't buy them! It's not that difficult smart guy. *sarcasm*
@StephenDensmore @YoungMario2012 I felt like a sucker buying those jumpedman Jordan 3's.. I can care less about the bottoms these come close & look way better than 2003 & 2011 versions. At the end of the day we got what we wanted. You a sucker for passing these up. At the end of the day these will still sell out.. You will always see us as "suckers" but what it all boils down to & how this whole sneaker sub-culture started is because we simply love... The shoe. So sit your ass down.
@YoungMario2012 Straight up
