We were aware that the $200 price-tag on the Air Jordan III Retro ’88 would raise more than a few eyebrows, but we certainly did not anticipate the mass response when we first reported the news last week! Over four-hundred comments poured in to discuss the sudden increase in price for the addition of ‘Nike Air’ on the heel, and until the shoes release at the rumored mid-February/All-Star Weekend timeslot, there’s no doubt that the debate will continue. Check out this new gallery of images below and let us know – is $200 worth the money to recapture Nike Air that was last seen on the White/Cement in 1994?

Any idea if it's midnight online or in store? foot locker or house of hoops? @RikoDemetriou
yall can toss a niggas salad wit 2 hunny fa sum shit frum 2 yrs ago... started to slowly get out of da jordan game & stick wit my trusted foams & af1 frum here on in
I see nothing wrong with the price....come up with a release date so ppl can cop and move on from all the hype and price bitching!
So sad the sneaker game is over pure bitches (hypebeasts/sneakerheads) gonna get 4 pairs. Foot locker n champ employees gonna keep all of em then fags with 80 pairs gonna sell em on ebay for 600 each. Poor real sneakerheads who pay their bills that wanna cop these
Keep in mind... Jordan is no longer *NIKE* Air Jordan. It's a brand of it's own (that transition was made in 1997). Sure that's pretty obvious to most "sneakerheads", but to those who are confused, it would make sense that Jordan Brand would keep it's branding at the bottom of the shoe, because again, at the end of the day, it's Jordan Brand, not Nike. So, we can get over it now. Be happy.
Im only paying 40$... my parents were gonna pay the rest as long as i put down 40 either way so haha, i dont. Care. And i know i got haters. Its okay you guys, i am a spoiled 17 year old hypebeast. So?
Most def gone try to cop these. If the Black Cements came out a nigga would be too happy.
i am done with this game jordan plays. He cannot sell his own line of shoes ,but people keep buying this overpriced junk. I grew up watching jordan and loving his sneakers. I really could not afford them when i was in school. I have two pairs of retros and two pairs of jb. I am so sick of the same sneakers coming out time after time. They cost twice as much as when i was a kid. Jordan only puts out a small amount of sneakers then he keeps releasing them in different colors. I'm done with jordan money pit.
FOOLS! You have all been b!tch!n' for years because they would not put the "Nike Air" on the back, and now that they do you're surprised at the $40. price hike?!?! LOL, get outta here, ain't no time for that!!! You thought they were just going to GIVE 'EM to ya'! You are all FOOLS! Have fun standing in your lines! It's sh!t quality and unnecessary price hikes like THIS that caused me to get over Jordan Brand A LONG time ago!
All this b!tching and whining about the price - here in Australia the 2011 retro cost $220 - any Jordan retro costs at least $220... And our dollar is better than yours! I'd be happy to be paying only $200 for these. Everyone been complaining for so long about not having a Nike AIR on the back and now that it's there it's just more complaining. If you want them, you got to pay for them. Simple as that.
And the leather quality thing - there's comments I've read here preempting the quality isn't going to be as good as the OGs, but in the same damn comment admitting out they don't have no damn OGs. What the hell you going to compare them to then?
While I'm at it, just wondering when did everyone get too busy/illiterate/lazy to manage to type out "shake my head"? I'm just going to assume that anyone typing smh is no sneakerheard at all, just a little b!tch who's got sand in their panties... Actually it's a pretty funny thing to visualise, all these marfcukas sitting at their computers literally shaking their heads as they type. It would actually be quite difficult... Douches.
@daveysmallz you know good and well theres no pleasing some pple. But in australia if yall carry large sizes i cam dish outgthe already extra bread i dish already for sme kicks. But i totally agree with you post
this may be the first shoe that I will purchase and RESELL! hypebeasts where are ya lol
we've been paying these prices in the uk for almost a year now, so welcome to our world, stop paying and they'll get the picture.
@PaulCasey that is truly the only way prices will ever go down. If every retro sells out prices will only get worse, if they sit on shelves prices will drop.
I will take a pair of Kamikaze II and a pair of Mutombos for the same price. Thanks for makin that decision easy JB.
Hmm, better come with some wooden shoe trees, a towel, a brush, a shirt and a jacket! And don't forget about a "collectible" shoe box too! LOL
People always complain about prices but the BREDs and every foamposite still sell out and guys were crying about the price hike on those shoes as well
Looking forward to them. My pair from 2011 got a bit of yellowing on the tab, could use a fresh pair. Alot of negative energy around this shoe it seems like. If you don't like the price tag, don't buy it. Most of yall complaining need a life, keep it moving on to the next pair you would like. Leave these to the peps who want them and don't mind paying "asking" price
@DeVille honestly, you need to get a life mate. you have the 2011 jumpman version. if you don't want to read complains from normal people then do not read the comments. just buy them when they are released and stfu if you are fine with the release.
@NickBartzis Lol, your a lame punk "mate" I love it when peps tell others to stfu over a cpu when you know you wouldnt say it to my face, now would you? Why you trolling these post if you dont want them, like them, or the price. Like i said get a life and keep it moving. And watch your mouth boi!
@DeVille Exactly! Too many speeches here! Whatever happened to just saying "cop" or "drop", and that was that... :D
i guess these will be too expensive to buy from a re-seller. I didn't get any 3's last year and would pay for these but the zoo around them is probably something i'm not going through for sneakers
Yeah I am NOT coppin. 200 dollars is a lot of money and that money could probably be better spent. Plus I already copped 2 pairs of 3s from last year. The only way I'd get these shoes is if I were a shoe collector but I actually wear my shoes. Not to mention this colorway is pretty plain.
@teenrapfan21 would not try to cop if i already had the jumpman like you do..wanted these but now i will think about it..
hmm, many opinions ans views. You asked for NIKE on the back and your wish was granted. Yall got the money, you spend it on everything else. Shoes have been selling out for fun. Jokers have purchased shoes months ago and hae not rocked them. They bought em just to say they got em. These are no different. They wil sell out regardless of the price and that's that. Modern day slavery.
I'm not a huge III fan, however the only one of these I do not own is the '11 edition. I'm kind of upset at a $200 price tag, but what I'm confused about is the uproar. Seriously, the latest Bred XIII that dropped was $170 retail. Are people seriously that upset with a $30 increase from a company that has been known to hike its prices at the beginning of every year?! I also see this as a sort of "special edition" release because of the "Nike Air" tab and the same release in '11. Those of you that have the '11 release should be excited that you had the same shoe for about $40 less. You can tell this shoe was specifically made for those sneaker aficionado's that were demanding it over and over again; and with anything "special" or "unique" Nike does nowadays you should expect a price hike. To be honest show your displeasure by not purchasing the shoe. Everyone should have a voice and opinion, but the constant complaining is almost irrelevant now, because with Retros, there is going to be something to always complain about. Nike is moving away from a customer oriented philosophy from where they started (releasing shoes and attire consumers wanted at a high, but reasonable price for the product), to a more of a designer style philosophy (Not made for everyone, only the few can afford and based on maximizing profits; not necessarily making all consumers happy). I'm not completely fed up with Nike and the "sneaker game" in general, however its getting close. So, until that day I will continue to buy the shoes I loved from the past and the new editions Nike puts out, and this will probably be one of them.
I wonder if anyone will actually buy an "early release" pair from MarqueeSole for $1988.00! That figure has to be there as a placeholder or something.
3's are in my top five favorite J's so of course these are a must cop! Not trippin' off the price tag being $200 still gonna cop
@SkilledHooper82 And that's exactly why Nike will keep raising prices on everyone. At some point it's gotta stop, and that happens when no one is willing to pay the price anymore.
unfortunately these are pretty sick, so I'll probably try to get a pair despite the price. But if the retail price is 200$ then the reseller prices will be crazy high and I'm not willing to pay that.
Everybody has something to say about it. With every big release brings new arguments and opinions with sn'eads snapping at eachother, but you know what's cool? most everything that anyone has to say about it, be it good or bad about the shoe, shows passion about the sneaker game. Unlike some people, I like to hear what complaints sneakerheads have because I know the guys that come on here and comment are on here everyday because they love it and actually care about how the production of this shoe is being handled. I WOULD MUCH RATHER SEE THE DUDE IN THE SHOE THAT HE LOVES THAN IN THE SHOE THAT HE HATES, if you know what I am saying. Usually the guys that complain the most are the true sneakerheads, so thank you for coming on here.
As for this Retro 3 "OG", the most valid argument I have heard on here is the fact that while this shoe does carry the original Nike symbol on the pull tab, it does not feature the same on the outsole as the true original did. I don't know why that is and we will prob never know. Does that bug me? Yeah man it does. Do i wonder how the quality of the leather in this shoe compares to the OG? Yeah I do, and I wish i was that golden sneaker head that has the OG to make that comparison, but I'm not. Did i get my block knocked off when I saw the $200 price tag? Yes sir, that happened too.
But with that being said, I will say this: MJ won his first MVP in this shoe as well as the Dunk Contest. When I look at that Nike heel tab and color way, it reminds me of that and how much history this 3 has, not only for basketball but for the sneakergame as well. It's the closest I am gonna get to that OG model (I hope... if you know what I mean) and reminds me if that classic dunk contest poster that I am sure you all still have, like I do, and that's why i love this shoe. despite the flaws, I am going to humbly try to cop this one. See you in line.
@solidsnake why the jordan label is on the sole? so after a few years they can release the "original OG" (lol) and raise the price by 80-100usd.
