Air Jordan III ’88 Retro – Release Date
The much anticipated Air Jordan III ’88 retro has a release date of February 6th. The sneakers serve as one of the most unexpected drops in a long time, both because of the long awaited ‘Nike Air’ treatment on the back end and the fact that the Air Jordan III saw a pretty thorough retro run just two years ago. The pair comes as an NBA All-Star tribute, specifically referencing Michael Jordan’s slam dunk championship from that year (the February 6th release date ending on the same day of that moment 25 years ago). Continue reading for the latest photos and remember that the Air Jordan III ’88 ‘White/Cement’ release date is February 6th, and as far as we know Nikestore will be the only place to get them (but we’ll keep you updated should other retailers pop up).
UPDATE: The Air Jordan III Retro ’88 is not exclusive to Nikestore and will be available at other select Jordan Brand retailers.
UPDATE: It has been confirmed by Jordan Brand that the release date is February 6th.
Air Jordan III ’88 Retro
White/Fire Red-Cement Grey-Black
Hello, I am looking for the retro 3 white clement for a very long time.
there is no place that I did not ask ..
I called the store so footlocker because I've heard that the release day occurs since. Some said only in Holland some thinks in a certain region and the others said in no case in Germany ..
Do you know if they come out in Germany? yes where and whom, and when? Thanks in advance! :)
For anyone looking for information about the UK release I have just been told by a rep instore at Nike Town London that the date has been pushed back to Saturday 23rd March. I was told that a midnight release was likely although not yet confirmed.
Just got off the phone with nike, it is only a nikestore twitter release only. The guy also gave me a heads up on a random restock which could drop at stores or online stores so be watching & waiting he said bcuz it was more than 20,000 pairs made then what ppl assume. He said these should restock like the concords, breds, & thunder did for a bit not as many but in the same fashion. So hopefully what he said is accurate but things can change he said but so far its a go. Hopefully this can put sum of you a bit at ease
Just so y'all know.. The Nike Air Hang tag is not even the correct hang tag that came out in 88. Since Nike wanna be all OG style about it... At least correct the hang tag lol.. The OGs had a flat plastic Nike Air hang tag, similar to the tag that dropped in 2001 w blk cement 3s. The one shown here is the hang tag that debut in Spring of 89 with Military Blue 4s. Chuck Norris has spoken.. You may now sit down. ;)
So does anybody in NYC know the set up pñ how the public will ne able to purchase these? Cuz those fire red 5s were first come first serve this morning. I went....waited about 5 minutes cuz there was a little line, and I copped. Hopefully it be the same for these 3s
The NIKE Town In Seattle, Wa. Says they have no knowledge of this release.... I really want these, do you know any retailers around the Seattle area that might be having this release?
Obviously I'm just trolling & being sarcastic about my comments with the gullible young bucks on here lol. There's no age limit to being a fan of shoes or just because you weren't around or you didn't exist at the time doesn't make you better than someone who has lived to experience this particular shoe & era (which was an awesome era btw) . Example I love classic cars & some cars that I love were around before I was even born but regardless I still appreciate & admire that car. Same applies with retro shoes. Shit young kids love dinosaurs and who the hell was around when they roamed the earth to admire them?? Lol.. Again I was messing with these individuals & will continue to mess with them because they're ignorant & uneducated. If you love shoes you love shoes and that's awesome at any age. Just know your history to appreciate them even more.
I read these comments with interest and the many other debates like this on other social media platforms. I come from a slightly different perspective as a 38 year old British sneaker (or trainer as it is here) enthusiast. I was there at the beginning but I don't think that gives me any status over those who were not. In the Uk in the late 80's we were always a bit behind the US releases and it was not till the 4 that you could buy Jordan's in UK high street shops. As such the fire red and black cement 4's will always be my favourite Jordan's as the first I was able to own bought with my own money from my first Saturday job etc. And that's the thing with OG's and those that had them, there is an emotional connection to it as well as a physical, especially to this new run of Jordan's with Nike Air on the back as that's what makes them as close to the originals we use to own. Does that make me a more valid owner of these new pairs and therefore I should be given priority over a young guy? Of course not. Am I more of a "head" than an 18 year old just getting into the game confused about the history? No it does not. I was not alive when teh Beatles are together but I still ove and enjoy their music as much as my parents who were. Every generation will have its unique sunpbjective culture and anyone who was a teenager in teh late 80's early 90's was very lucky to be that age at a time when sneaker design and awareness was at its creative peak. In 4 short years we were able to just go in to a regular store at a a regular time and buy Air Max 1, light and 90. Air trainer SC, TW etc. Air Jordan 3, 4, 5 and 6 amongst many other hits from Tinkers prime. Never since apart from maybe the 11's has there been another period in trainer design like that so you can't blame the younger generation for wanting to be part of it with the rehashes available today. If you want the kicks buy them wether that to be to rock or collect. It does not matter, if you have earned the money legitimately then you have earned the right to buy them. That's capitalism for you and Nike (along with Apple, adidas etc) are the perfect exploiters of that. However buy them because you like them (to wear or collect it does not matter), not because someone else hypes them or because you are going to sell them for double the price. We need to educate younger guys not belittle them.
@hozezae thanks for clarifying for all the hype beasts out there bro. Now the people that didn't know what to do will be on there too. This is common knowledge. It's not a secret. If people aren't lazy it's easy to find out. No One Needs You To Explain How To Get Them! If someone doesn't already know hiw to cop, then they don't deserve the shoes anyways. It's nice of you and all, but you're only helping people who are asking questions like, "are the black ones also available?" and "are these available at footlocker and Finishline?" These are understandable questions, but let them READ the article, and let them GO To The Websites, and let them CALL the stores. Don't do the legwork for their lazy a$$es. If they can't figure out how to buy them on their own, then they don't deserve them, or they deserve to pay reseller prices
@hozezae With my experience those reps only tell you what you want to hear. But i hope they are right.
@shay456p Id like to know is footlocker gonna have these? its not on their site.
just swap with the nike air max 1 or 90 og hang tag same shit lol and u can get them for $10 on ebay i ordered a shit load of them
@DesmondDiggaDezDavis bow before the presence of greatness.. You should feel honored for my lateness.. ;)
According to my local House of Hoops manager It maybe feb 2nd or feb 6.. Nike wants to release on feb 6th to commemorate the exact date when Jordan won the 88 Dunk Contest wearing the 3's however retailers want them to release on Saturday. There's no solid concrete info yet.
no it wont retard
@david_pagano1 major chain stores are doing raffles from what vie been hearing because they're really limited 20,000 units released to the public.
@frankwite81 whilst I appreciate that as I'm 3500 miles away and with no knowledge of NY sneaker spots i might not be the most informed commentator, I would say that wherever you are in the western world these will be a lot harder to cop than your 5 experience today. Whilst maybe not on galaxy foam/yeezy 2 level I think that these are going to be up there with the concord 11 and cement 4's if not harder as those were at least GR and these in all probability will be QS,sn. 5 fire reds are a great shoe and the retro that released today is a pretty decent version of it from what I saw this morning but you can get it in virtually every spot even here in UK, for example Nike store here in Europe almost 24 hours after release still have a full size run online. It's maybe because they are not as popular as the three's and of the colour ways coming this year they are probably the least sought after IMHO (Grapes will be snapped up far quicker) and the one big point is they don't have Nike Air on the heel. I think the reason why Nike/jordan retailers are being so cagey about the release is they are expecting trouble with this release. Here in blightly Nike reps are telling idependent retailers that they are not coming to UK but at the same time Nike Town London are apparently making plans for an exclusive release in mid February. I suppose only a select few know the release plans at the moment but once thr news is announced i think only a select fee will cop! I hope im proved wrong. Your experience this morning is how it used to be snd how it should be. Good luck on getting them. Your chances are probably 100% better than mine being in a provincial town on the south coast of England with only one spot (size?) to buy from or the online roulette.
@KeelyN they better have them for GS
@NickBobadilla Footlocker, Finishline, footaction
@CHVCKNORRIS Not to burst your bubble but Ignorant and uneducated is the same thing* :-(
@CHVCKNORRIS "Ignorant and Uneducated" thats hysterical for a guy who prides himself on starting mess with people for the fun of it. NO LIFE.
@CHVCKNORRIS good clarification of your point of view man and respect to that. Also into classic cars so know where your coming from. Wish I still had the time to devote to it. Kids drain all my time and funds now so have to be selective in what shoes I pick up these days anyway.
@JamesEels I respect that post. Great write up. I'm glad to see an older dude understand and display common sense on this topic. I am bothered by how many say ignorant things as if they are the only ones who exist. People should enjoy the younger generation being a part of it (not the hypebeast). Like what does an older dude have to wear jordans for honestly, and to the point where they get upset about others wearing it? You can't battle with another generation. Im 16 with about 16 pairs of sneakers (and building) its not only jordans, i have air force 1s, foamposites ,other nikes, im going to get converses and these new reeboks I like real soon. So me. Im not apart of the hypebeast thing. I simply get what I like with money I earned regardless of the brand.
@j8ailey is there any girls size??
@MartinD44 i understand what u saying but first and foremost i did it for me then decided to share bcuz i don't mind helping the true sneakerheads or collectors out. Now i kno its pretenders on here who just want them for popularity of them and those who just want a profit. At this point in the sneaker game these boys are on it with info before us. So i tried to help out those who are asking but its still a possibility that it won't happen.
@DesmondDiggaDezDavis even chuck norris knows that this release says jordan instead of nike on the bottom cuz when i said it he ignored it but then again chuck is all knowing... HAIL CHUCK NORRIS
@JamesEels thanks man...I appreciate the insight. I found out that for now, Nike stores are the only ones that will release them. And it will be first come first serve. I do believe tjat cuz usually when they do the raffles, they hand those out a week before they sneaker actually comes out. But the only way to find out is to follow @Nike NYC on Twitter. They will soon post up the true info on how everything is going down....you'll be surprised how many ppl are not gonna get em just cuz of the price tag. I'm getting them cuz I.never had 3s.....
@Born2fly good luck to you with your collecting and thanks for your positive feedback. Great to see you are getting into other brands too. I rock a lot of classic New balances at the moment (420's and 576's). J's are mostly collectables for me these days.
@DesmondDiggaDezDavis lil b...bruce lee? good comparison lil b does look like a lot of ppl i guess bruce lee is one good way to look at it chuck :)
@DesmondDiggaDezDavis even though I died in the movie Return of the Dragon versus Bruce Lee.. Ironically I'm still alive & Bruce Lee been dead.. Lol.. Y'all take this sneaker thing too serious.. Y'all know my tears cure cancer?
@DesmondDiggaDezDavis All mighty chuck lol of course u know that noone said these were better then og and u know that i dont want them cuz i have 2011 release but u knew that so need for me saying that. CHUCK THE GOD
@DesmondDiggaDezDavis Who ever said these were better than OGs? You're NOT getting this shoe son.. They made this particular retro similar to the retro 2's.. Nike on the heel Jordan on the bottom.. All knowing indeed kid..
