Air Jordan XVI Retro “Cherrywood” – Unreleased 2012 Sample

It looks like one of the models that would have been brought back in a hypothetical Air Jordan XVI retro period was the fan favorite ‘Cherrywood’ colorway. This sample from 2012 sports a couple quick alterations to distance it from the original release, namely a different looking mesh hidden under the shroud and a bit of a different material selection on the piping that breaks up said mesh and the leather sections. The Cherrywood was a widely popular colorway when it first released, speaking directly to a “grown” appeal with the lux color combination of White, Silver, and the deep red tones, so would it have been as much of a success if it dropped last year? These released back in 00-01(?) for like 160. The price today?! whew! retro 3's are 200!

And they fucked them up. You might be able to fuck with the early retro's and get away with it but you can't change fuck up the og color-ways on these and think people will still cop.
@Gusto lol true, the shit that gets me is the "cherrywood" v on the upper is almost completely covered by the gaiter and the toebox seems so slim, why must these sobs always retool the shape of retros, just to save them 5 cents a pair...

Lol, all they're doing is building hype for when they actually do release these. Come on people. Wise up. Nike does this all the time and people fall for it every time. They don't just scrap shoes all the time like they make it seem. It's all a part of the plan.

They're releasing them soon I heard. My man who works at The Bobcats arena said someone in the know said JB never intended to release these last year. They told the blogs this knowing they'd write these stories. The purpose is to gauge the public's interest in them to see if they create a strong enough buzz to warrant a retro.

Man these look so nice. I use to have the OG. But back then these were not considered among the favorite 16s released mainly because they followed the release of the famous white/midnight navy 16s. Damn I wish I still had these. Maybe I can at least find the shrouds somewhere in the basement haha
