Before New Balance went back in time to reissue the original 1982 version of the 990 complete with Vibram outsole, a similar treatment was created for what’s likely the most popular NB silo in Japan. The 1300JP remains a legend for its limited numbers and super-premium construction, but unlike the ‘Steel Blue 1300CLs, the JPs haven’t been on a five year retro cycle. Applying the lighter grey/blue signature look to the New Balance ML71 is sure to create new fans for the Minimus series low-profile runner. The ML71 features a Vibram bottom by default, so the branding along with colorway and materials make for a strong callback to the Japan 1300s.
