Sneaker News March Madness Foamposite Tournament – Sweet 16 Announced
After the Sneaker News March Madness Foamposite Tournament wrapped up the First Round of voting last night, we’d like to present to you the Sweet 16 that our readers selected to move on in battle. All #1 Seeds still remain, but there are several upsets that we must take note of (remember fellas, these are your votes talking!). The largest upset in terms of seeding came from the Southwest bracket, as the 2012 Pink Foamposite took down the most limited Air Foamposite One to hit retail in the Dark Army (under 100 pairs released), but other eye-catching results include the Bright Crimson Pro beating out the original Voltage in the East bracket and the Silver Pro outgunning the Carolina in the Southwest. If you want a full breakdown of the results, check out the voting percentages for each match-up below.
SECOND ROUND VOTING BEGINS TUESDAY, MARCH 26TH, at 4PM EST.
MATCHUP #1 – No surprise here: the Galaxy – a favorite to win it all – beats out the Gym Green with ease.
MATCHUP #2 – The most disappointing upset hits us as the Pink joints beat out the most limited Foamposite release ever.
MATCHUP #3 – The Metallic Red beats out the Varsity Royal to move on to the Sweet 16.
MATCHUP #4 – In the battle of the all-black Foams, the Stealth edges out the Blackout Pro.
MATCHUP #1 – Another Tourney favorite beats out the Black/Red in convincing fashion.
MATCHUP #2 – One non-#1 seed that could win it all moves on as the Eggplants defeat the Electrolimes.
MATCHUP #3 – The “Retro Blue” might be the #3 seed to watch as it defeats the Bright Cactus with surprising ease.
MATCHUP #4 – Two early-2000s Pro releases battle it out, with Metallic Silver taking the W.
MATCHUP #1 – Coppers vs. Cough Drops in this top-vs-bottom showdown, but no surprise as Copper moves on.
MATCHUP #2 – The 2010 Pearl Retro beats out the Suns colorway to enter the round of 16.
MATCHUP #3 – Another sad upset develops as the original Voltage falls to the recent Bright Crimson joints.
MATCHUP #4 – The Pro releases continue to drop like flies as the Varsity Red falls to the HoH-exclusive Neo Lime.
MATCHUP #1 - The original version has zero problem moving on. Is it a Final Four lock?
MATCHUP #2 - All-Black beats out Fighter Jet Camo. We’ll be honest, we’re a bit surprised (but surely pleased) at this outcome.
MATCHUP #3 - Dr. Doom wins this battle as it beats out the Black/Gum OG.
MATCHUP #4 - Dark Green colors have no luck as the Pines are slayed by the Metallic Pewter.
BTW, how the hell did Fighter Jet lose??!!!
When Pro Volts lose to crimsons you know the votes are built off hype and nothing more.. $10 sez Galaxy and Paranorman Foamposite Ones will be the Tourney finalist..
s a damn shame cause if they retroed cw's like the dark army's the royal pro's or the voltage pro's or the blackout pro'sor the cactus one's in the next 3 years and re-did this poll and put them up against the same shoes there would be no competition
this is nothing but hype honestly. No og colorway should lose but these youngsters these days really do not know there history. SMMFH
Damn, was pulling for them pine green pro's to at least get past tha pewters but whatever... Both of them respectable colorways
There's the truth. As expected. 11% left are actual Sneakerheads... 89% make up the Hypebeasts(and re-sellers). The only two with gimmicky kid-conning themes on them, that also just happened to be the most LIMITED(hype beast)... were clear winners. Not even the best pure original cw's like Royals, Eggplants, and Coppers(THE best non-OG)... were THAT clear cut, only getting from 50-80% of the votes. And they were up against boring average cw's. Just goes to show what a corporate conglomerate with a quality marketing department can do... throw in a them, make em "super limited" and the kids go CRAZY! Bunch of suckers. They are cool though. So i can see why the kids eat it up like candy. But as you'll notice, you dont see anyone wearing them, as is the function of a sneaker and test of its worth. So they are pretty much irrelevant to the "sneaker" game. MOre like collecting toys. Its not for me.
It was already 3 black foams in da tourney...wouldna minded seein jets move on....limited or not..they were still a creative idea
not to mention the dark armys...one of the best colorways was dropped by a pair of foamposites that got restocked multiple times...the pink foamposites shouldnt have even been in it
how did neo limes and crimsons beat voltage and red pros?
two of the worst colorways ever made it to the sweet 16.
you kids are ridiculous...
Read that comment on MATCHUP #2 – "The most disappointing upset hits us as the Pink joints beat out the most limited Foamposite release ever." Just because it is the most limited??? Can you say HYPEBEAST?
@Sole_Survivor Same shit I was thinking. Too many hypebeast tbh
@mcassity id rather platinums beat "the fuckery" first lol
@bigavel they need to use the 02's or OG's for the pic. newest pair is too goldish
@caseyflinders I feel you b. The history gets lost as the next generation starts to define whats "hot". Its a shame when those garbage crimsons can beat out a classic colorway. The only saving grace i see so far is that the jet fighter lost. lol
@Eldog ...or the BEST thing, if you're somebody else that thinks differently to you.
@So_Soleful crimsons are low-key heat man
@HDIZZLE oh please, if it wasnt for hype, the pink foams wouldnt have even happened
@HDIZZLE It's disappointing because the Dark Army is one of the best colorways to ever release.
