weekly rewind 4 5 Sneaker News Weekly Rewind: 3/30 4/5

Another great week of Sneaker News is upon us, so let’s go! Starting off, the next rounds in our Foamposite Madness Tournament went on, with all four #1 seeds advancing to the finish. Several Air Jordan Retro updates were made, with a nice detailed look at the Air Jordan VIII “Laney” for Kids, while the Air Yeezy 2 was another big topic with that sick all-red sample. LeBron releases dates were huge, with the Hazelnut and Denim joints dropping this month, while some new Elite KD Vs turned heads as well. The Barkley Posite Max continues to be a sizzling headline as we saw more detailed images of upcoming colorways, while Nike SB enjoyed one of the most eventful weeks in a while with the 2013 Previews and our interviews with Eric Koston and designer Shawn Carboy.

In the lifestyle side of things, the Air Force 1 Downtown is hooking up with Liberty of London, New Balance’s brogue effort was enticing to say the least, Vans is dipping into the Galaxy, and Asics is messing around with graphic prints. Reebok’s bringing back the Frank Thomas line now that baseball is back, while adidas is hitting us with a Retro release with a certain Lakers star’s name attached to it. Finally, another strong selection of custom sneakers got our attentino, like Mache’s KD V”Surf Style” and Jparker’s rendition of Easter LeBrons. All of Sneaker News Weekly Rewind is below so get caught up!

nike air max 90 milan 6 Nike Air Max 90 HomeTurf Milan

The Nike Air Max “HomeTurf” Collection has begun to release sporadically at retailers overseas, with no true rhyme or reason to when and where they’re hitting stores. Of the twelve releases in total, the Milan might own the title as the most “lifestyle” of the bunch, opting for tonal suede colorways to represent the high-end fashion forward city. The Nike Air Max 90 captures that vibe with the tonal stone grey suede upper and the orange burst inner lining, but is it the best of the entire Milan set? Size? has these available for purchase now so check out the close-up details below and let us know which HomeTurf release you like best.

Nike Air Max 97 EM “Sunrise”

Engineered Mesh is being widely used as a replacement for older materials as an upgrade in breathability and lightness, but what if Mesh is replacing…mesh? The original Air Max 97 already featured the light and airy mesh upper between the “tracks” on the upper, but Engineered Mesh not only preserves that advantage, but also gives it a stunning visual appeal with the non-uniform pattern. Throw in the orange-to-yellow “Sunrise” gradient and you have a pretty snazzy pair of Nike Air Max 97 EM runners that stand out well in the stunning Air Max “Sunrise” Pack”. Additional angles are below, so take a look and stay tuned to Sneaker News for release updates.

All of a sudden elephant print is all over the Nike Air Force 1 lineup. Sure we’ve seen it happen in the past, but perhaps never in this rapid a succession on random retail pairs. This time around the Nike Air Force 1 High goes into the jungle, utilizing the famed pattern on its back end. What’s more the sneaker picks up on a white/red/black combination that actually links them up a little bit further to that Air Jordan vibe that the beastly print exudes. See more of this Nike Air Force 1 High below and purchase yours from Rock City Kicks.

The Air Jordan 1 OG Collection of 2013 continues tomorrow as the release of the “Celtics”-inspired colorway begins to hit select Jordan retailers around the globe. With a hardwood-floor graphic imprinted on the upper and a Green/Gold/Black colorway lending to that old-school Celtics vibe, does this Air Jordan 1 OG stand up to the popular Black/Royal and Knicks releases? April is indeed a solid month for AJ1 releases with the “Bugs” AJ1 Retro ’93 and the Black/Metallic Gold joints, so kick things off right by copping the Air Jordan 1 “Celtics” tomorrow at Jordan Brand retailers or from sneakerpost on eBay.

Air Jordan 1 Retro ’93 “Bugs” – Release Reminder

Kicking off the Jordan Brand shoes for the April 2013 Sneaker Releases is the Air Jordan 1 Retro ’93 – a hybrid format that combines the Air Jordan 1 and Air Jordan VIII. We must say that the last two hybrids (these and the Retro 1 ’97) were executed much more cleanly than the last ones we saw (the forgettable Jordan Prime 5, to make an example), and with the sick lining and ribbed heel, these are new joints that even the oldies can rock with. The Air Jordan 1 Retro ’93 “Bugs” drops tomorrow so keep an eye out and see what’s available on eBay.
