Adam Jones’ Nike Cleats Banned by Major League Baseball

Mlb Bans Adam Jones Nike Cleats

While we won’t expect this latest banishment of performance footwear to trigger a string of events that will change the course of a sport like the Air Jordan 1’s banishment back in 1985, we always take notice of these events because it’s such a rare occurrence these days. This latest footwear dismissal comes at the hands of Major League Baseball, which told Baltimore Orioles outfielder Adam Jones (owner of one of the greatest player profile photos in pro sports history) that his Red/Orange/Black PE of the Nike Air Swingman MVP was not fitting of the league dress policy. The pixelated camouflage print is the same seen on the “Come Out Swinging” edition of the same shoe that select players wore on Jackie Robinson Day, but apparently these were not suitable for every-day wear. The positive note is that Adam is considering giving the shoes away or auctioning them off, so it looks like someone may benefit from them, if not Adam. Thoughts on the banishment of Adam’s cleats? Ticky-tack or a clear distraction to other players?
