Nike Air Tech Challenge III – Andre Agassi French Open Clay Court PE
The recent news of Andre Agassi’s return to the Nike fold no doubt had a good number of folks dusting off their old Tech Challenge stuff in celebration. Going way back into the vault, legendary collector Retro Kid came up with this-an original pair of the Nike Air Tech Challenge III made exclusively for Andre Agassi to wear for French Open play. The PE pair, an autographed and game worn one, featured a different tooling on the bottom to better attack the clay texture of the famed Roland Garros court. These are cool. I remember seeing him wear these and noticing those Air Trainer soles with the zig-zag clay outsoles. Nice collector item indeed.
In similar vein, Nike made a dimpled sole for Wimbledon's grass. They did it for Mac's Air Trainers and later for the ATCs.
